  • Diane - TQ for starting us off again - lovely flower to brighten the day. So glad to see it is only 48 more days to Spring Equinox - but it is also nice to see the evenings lengthening by minutes! Hope you are feeling a bit better.

dibnlib - sounds like you had a good time when away - interesting shopping!

  • Hi, Liz! Yes, yay for longer, brighter days! Hope you're well.

  • Evening all:  Learned lots at the native plant pruning class today. We also went off topic enough to include some non-natives such as Olive trees, which was great since our three desperately need tidying up.

Diane: Thank you - again - for the lovely start to the week. Sorry you've been feeling off. Maybe warmer weather would help?

Heather: Looked at comfy black pants in the light of day and no damage, thank heaven.

    Brenda: Ruby is a sweetie.

OG: Celery and cashew is an interesting combo.

dinblib: Umbrellas not a reliable option for interpersonal calamities here due to lack of rain!  :-) Does sound like you got some nice mementos from your few days away.

Heron: Good to see you! Had to smile at the thought of lurking being tiring (although that would make sense if you felt obliged to respond to everyone). :-)

    Have a good Sunday all.

  • Weather is grey, not freezing, and so, so still – feels really unnatural just waiting for Storm Henry to arrive tomorrow.  So we shall be going to church – possible that J will met some lying snow on his way into Dumfries, but that’s his choice.  Again, no birds to count – just one Blackbird so far – who told them it’s BGBW so stay away?

Dibnlib – that sounds like some serious shopping as mementoes of your holiday, but sorry about the jeans – it’s so annoying when a favourite shop stops stocking a style you find comfortable.

Paul – good to see you posting again – do keep popping in!

Brenda – pleased you took the opportunity for a walk yesterday afternoon – could do with some of that here; I think we are seizing up with inactivity!

Diane – thanks for starting the new week and heralding the new month with such a cheery picture!

Liz – evening brightness is good to see – and even the morning change is beginning to show now as well.

Annette – so pleased you enjoyed the class, and will find the Olive info useful!

Will now get hosed down to go out – back later.  Have a good day.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Excuse any typos from me - I think the W10 upgrade has "improved" predictive text, and it doesn't predict what I chose to say!

  • Good Morning, All, and once again a big Thank You to Diane for the new, cheery start to our week.

I'm just taking in the very sad news that Sir Terry Wogan has died: he cheered up our mornings on the radio for many many years. A very nice man and a big loss.

  • I've just this second read about Sir Terry Wogan - I agree that he will be very sadly missed.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Hi all

Thanks for starting the new thread,Diana. Can't believe it's only 48 'till the Spring Equinox.

I see I'm not the only one having trouble with predictive text, OG.

Sad news about Terry Wogan. I can't believe how many talented people we've lost in the last few weeks.

Well that's the Big Garden Birdwatch results submitted. My thanks to the 11 Starlings, 2 Jackdaws, 4 Pigeons, 1 Woodpigeon, 1 Blackbird, 2 Magpies, 1 Dunnock, 1 Robin, 2 Blue Tits, and 1 chaffinch, who kindly turned up.

    Have a brilliant day everyone.
