HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's chat thread is here.
I saw R. T. Hawk on Thursday. It's been so cold here that I had to put the battery charger on my car for a long while. I went out as the sun was setting to remove it. R. T. screeched at me when I went out the front door. When I closed the car bonnet/hood, he screamed at me loudly and flew around his tree. I think he was telling me off for disturbing him when it was time to roost in his tree. He called more gently when I went indoors. :-)))
Everyone have a wonderful week. Roll on spring!!!

All well today after two days of surprises! Had lunch at OTB - both had soup (I had tomato, he had carrot & coriander) so allowed ourselves sweet treats to finish - actually shared one piece of iced gingerbread and one of butterscotch slice, which was like a crisp macaroon in texture.
Have at last motivated ourselves to order the new laundry bins for the shower room. Our original choice has disappeared off the market, and I had totally gone off the idea of white plastic anyway (it gets dirty so quickly) and now we have chosen grey fabric.
Had to email our favourite guesthouse in Muir of Ord to ask the dates of our early August booking - we each had a different departure date in our diaries - woops! We also have booked a week back in the Vale of Belvoir in June (hoping to meet BiL there and not have to drive down to Cambridge to see him) and a visit to Northumberland in late August for the Tall Ships. Now we just need to decide on a couple of short trips in April and May, one of which will be to the Kelpies and the Helix near Falkirk.
Nice to see a long post from Margo today. Best wishes to All.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Good evening, all! We went to Abberton Reservoir today - click on this Canada goose to see some more piccies:
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
OG pleased all is well and on track...
Visited Kelpies and Helix when we did Stirling. Do the tour as you get to go inside as it is an amazing work of art.
Just putting final plans in place for trip down south to meet my girlies and go to Lundy. Flights sparse in the winter so will be away for two weeks. So extra dog walking for Daisy as even though he is home OH does actually work.
Plus one here this morning but minus 6 in Weymouth and youngest thought her contacts were freezing on her eyeballs...haha
Margo, this is for you - click on the butt.

Glad you had a better day, OG. You sound as if you enjoyed sorting out your adventures for the year, too. Hope tomorrow passes without incident, too.
Lovely pics from both Clare and Limpy.
Wendy, laughed at your description of the cold in Weymouth!
We received my brother's Christmas card today: not unusual, in fact once it was even nearer the end of January! I should mention that he lives in S. Africa and spent his whole life arriving for events at the last possible moment! Every year I put it away with the decorations and then it goes up on the shelf the following Christmas, with all the newly arrived cards. He has lived in S.A. since around 1971, and came home only once, in 1986 for our father's funeral.
My Youngest rang this evening to tell us that his whole little family went down with a bug after we saw them last Saturday: he is returning to work himself tomorrow, bu t both of the children are grizzly and tired.
Afternoon all: Hired muscles came and went; garden looks very tidy. I still have little jobs to do and others where I like to be careful about where I trim (hired muscles tend to whack away a bit too energetically).
OG: Sounds like a nice year planned with various outings.
Clare/Limpy: Love the Canada Goose and the disappearing derriere. :-)
Lindybird: Had no idea you had a bro in South Africa. Have you ever been to visit? Haven't heard the word "grizzly" in that context for eons. I remember being told to "stop grizzling." :-)
Off for naughty early glass of wine (well I was working in the garden too), then a shower and then dinner....
Good Morning. Still chilly here, brr!
Annette: No, we just couldn't afford to go when we were first married just after he emigrated, then the children came along and there were other priorities. Anyway, the relationship deteriorated over the years as he hardly ever communicated with either my poor mother, or us. He did get married in 1986 and shortly after, had two daughters, who of course none of us has ever seen. A shame. Nowadays he only ever emails me when he wants something done for his finances, some of which are in this country. Why we even get a Christmas card, I have no idea! I have no other siblings.
Glad your garden is tidied up now. Maybe you can spend some time in the hammock!
My Youngest has had a challenging few days, as they were all pretty much ill together (at least it gets it all over with at once, he said!) Poor little Matthew is still suffering with getting his back teeth coming through, so is doubly unhappy. I don't blame him for grizzling! Nothing I can do to help, so they didn't even tell us they were poorly until they started recovering.
Must go & get dressed, as lots to do today. Out on errands this morning, then Friend is coming around this afternoon.
Good Morning Everyone. Another beautiful sunrise as the sun shone on the frosted fields and trees. Frost wasn't as bad as it has been recently.
OG, Pleased to see that yesterday's hospital visit was without any more 'surprises'. Sounds good that you have already organised so many holidays / trips. I did laugh when I read that you both had different dates for one of your trips.
Annette, Now you just have to fill those holes again, which you asked your muscle men to leave. Sounds like you still have some hard work to do. Always so satisfying when the garden looks so neat and tidy.
Thank you Limpy and Clare for your lovely photographs.
Linda, You seem to have left your son and family just in time, so that you didn't catch the bug. Sorry that they have been so ill.I remember you having to sort out finances for your brother and your relationship with him. I guess you have well come to terms with the situation now. As you say, such a shame.
I must go food shopping today. I have a hairdressing appointment tomorrow morning at 9am. and yes, it will be raining LOL
Morning all.
Lindybird: That really is a shame about your brother; we had a cousin go off to South Africa. I don't believe he was great at communicating with his three sisters in the UK (or his Mom for that matter). I think he's been back in the UK recently - he has a son in Brussels or thereabouts. Reminds me of what my Mom used to say: A daughter's a daughter all of her life; a son's a son 'til he takes a wife. My only memory of him was sharing a bath (in a big metal tub) when we were both very, very small - must've been at the end of the war - in the kitchen of our house.
Brenda: Ah but holes are so much easier to fill than to dig! Hope the rain stays away long enough to let you get back home.
There's a huge winter storm bearing down on our East Coast. I think Diane is too north to be too badly affected by it, but I'm wondering if it isn't going to sweep across the Pond and smack into the UK....
Quiet on here today. I'm off to daughter's this morning. Back later to check up on all of you. :-)
Annette: The blizzard is predicted to clip southern Indiana, but not my area. Right now, they're calling it a Nor'easter, which means the storm will rotate back and hit the east coast hard from the northeast. They rotate like cyclones. It should stay stationary and blow itself out over the eastern U.S. -- so the remnants shouldn't hit the U.K. too hard. But who knows...
