Lots of action at Dunedin today

Drunkie arrives to take over incubation duties.
Both watching something above.
Like Foulshaw we now have a couple of sticks blocking the view of the nest cup.
The Mrs leaves Drunkie to get on with it.

The cam picture is not good at Tweed Valley today so not worth taking a screenshot. There was a mating on the post as I was watching so all looks good.
Exciting news from the Netherlands.
A pair of ospreys have built a nest in the Biesbosch nature reserve south east of Dordrecht, becoming the first pair ever recorded to have bred in the Netherlands, the Dutch forestry commission said at the weekend (newspaper report dated 1 May 2016)

Picture improved at Tweed Valley.
I think this is the female pottering in the nest, then she flew off

STARLING - Do you manage to ID DRUNKIE OK.
Also have you heard anything from the other nest that Aberfoyle reported on last season. I think it reared two chicks last season.
Once I get home from Spain tomorrow I will have to go over to Loch Ard and The Lodge at Aberfoyle to find out on matters. Its only a 25 minute run.
A few of us decided it was Drunkie, and Aberfoyle said it was possibly Drunkie - however - I have just found out that Aberfoyle posted on the 30th of April that they don't think either of these birds are the usual pair.
I have not heard anything about the other nest.
I hope you manage to find out more when you get home, nothing like an on the spot reporter.
Thanks Starling - I,ll see what I can find out.
That's the problem with non ringed ospreys.
Tweed Valley this morning.
One on the nest and just as I went to take the capture the other flew into top of the image.

Thanks Starling, I have been away and not been keeping up with things for various reasons. So it is a new pairing at Aberfoyle this season. I guess they will know from the monitor in the centre getting more detail, but I just thought our screen shots from earlier on, that the male looked so much like Drunkie. Anyway regardless, its good news that they have Ospreys on the nest there.
It is an interesting comment they made on FB about Katrine and Drunkie!!!! I was just thinking if Katrine and Drunkie are still around why wouldn't they use their normal nest. It does make you think though that if both male and female do not return to a nest, like 03(97) and his mate is there a remote chance that they are still out there but have gone elsewhere. I don't know enough about this kind of thing, or even remember it being discussed before if that is even a possibility.
