WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey), SUNDAY November 29, 2015

Happy new week.

I"m sampling the Sticky Toffee Pudding with vanilla ice cream. Back in a bit to report!

  • Hello all

Brother arrived about 1230 safe and sound. It has been all go since then, made lunch, walked to supermarket ( he said he needed to walk after sitting for so long over the past two days!) Made dinner and pudding, eldest daughter and family here for the meal. Lots of chat, carried on reminiscing after they left. Thank goodness he is as tired as I am right now and we have both come upstairs, leaving my OH watching TV.

Tomorrow is another day! Eldest daughter has a day off and is collecting us at 1015 tomorrow. We are going to Connage for some cheese then somewhere for lunch. Brother wants to have a sight test while here so will arrange that. And it is goodnight from a cold Inverness. Nothing extreme, just 1.5 degrees. I've left the central heating ticking over for the night. Don't want to have a frozen brother......

  • Just started to read posts so far - AQ - that must be devastating news for you but hopefully no-one has come to any harm. These fires are devastating to the local population but do hope that they get through the trauma. Will be thinking about the situation out there.

Liindybird - glad you enjoyed yourselves at Tomasz's Christmas fair. Its always nice to see what the children/adults have done to make these events successful.

So pleased that we have won the Davis Cup after 76 years.

  • Must remember - HAPPY BELATED ST. ANDREWS DAY TO ALL NORTH OF THE BORDER.  Am part Scottish so always love anything Scottish.  We are having another Burns night in Jan but on the Friday night before as they can only get the hall for that date. Loved it last year. It was our minister who instigated the first one - he is Scottish - its a great idea.

Church looked lovely on Sunday afternoon with small Christmas trees decorating the church for the first Sunday in Advent and throughout the Christmas period.   It was our quarterly Songs of Praise with tea and cakes afterwards. Yummy.

Diane - hope you enjoyed your stay and relaxed.

OG - the haggis meal sounds very appropriate for today(just) and bacon pancakes, hmm never had those. Sounds as though your new shower room is all but complete now - enjoy.

  • Brenda - thanks for letting us know about Margo.  Thoughts are with them both.

Rita - noticed on the weather forecast that Scotland was having cold weather and south we were a lot milder but wet and windy. Take care, keep warm.  Goes for all of you north of the border.

HeatherB - glad you have had family get together. Hope your brother enjoys his stay and gets to do what he needs to do without the weather hampering you.  Hope you enjoyed your meal.

Well, off to the gym in the morning to do a few lengths then on to our Womens' meeting at church - this week we have one of our members bringing in the Tradecraft stall for us to peruse over and maybe buy some last minute Christmas presents.

Take care all. Stay warm and safe.

  • Evening all:  Oh dear, a seriously belated Happy St. Andrews Day; hope you all enjoyed it.

Lindybird: Your OH has been busy these last few days, what with carpet cleaning and mending fences. Amazing that your BP is good what with Bonnie's antics.  That's a wonderfully sunny photo for Margo - so cheery.

Heather: How nice to have your bro there - and the family too. I assume he'll be taking the train back to Plymouth?

OG: We expect photos of the famous shower when it's finished! :-) Congrats on getting the bulbs in the pots.

Brenda: Thanks for letting us know that Margo and her OH managed to get out to celebrate his birthday. Not an easy time for them....

Rita: Hope the weather improves enough to get  your shopping done.

Lynette: Sounds like you're doing all kinds of lovely old-fashioned Christmas activities in addition to keeping up at the gym.

AQ: Hope the fires are contained with no further damage.

Having light lunch with friend tomorrow; weather here still cool and dry. Stay warm those of you in colder climes.

  • Good Morning from the wet part of the country!  Apparently it's very cold in Scotland, and unusually mild in the South. But the weatherman said wet in between!

  • Had problems writing the above: hopefully a temporary glitch on my tablet.

Lynette:  It's starting to feel Christmassy now that it's December today. Nice when they allow Christmas trees in church, which I feel brings together the religious and domestic feel of the season.

Heather:  Glad your brother managed to reach you in the end!  He must have been tired. Don't know how you find the time to post!

  • Good morning.  Mild and wet here, brighter later?  Baking cakes today, for freezer.  Joiner will be half hour late - he asked programmer to phone and tell us!  So sent OH shopping out the way!  Left leg, which didn't seem to know it was a leg yesterday so I shuffled around like a real old lady, is working a bit better this morning!  Thinking of MARGO's consultation today, and BRENDA's OH too.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Just back from the Drs. with OH. He has to continue with present, increased medication for another week. If no improvement he will be going for hospital cameras. Heart, bowel, bladder are fine. Blood tests are all clear. No sign of a hernia. He had a full night's sleep last night so I am hopeful :-))

Mild and cloudy here, after overnight drizzle.

    Margo, Best wishes for today.

Heather, Pleased your brother arrived safely, but your timetable sounds very busy. Enjoy.

OG, Thanks for asking about my OH. Sounds as if you have been doing too much standing and walking. Hope the feeling in your leg improves.
I guess the joiner should have arrived now.

    Will be back.

  • Margo just kindly rang me. Her blood and bone marrow results were good and sound, so she is happy. She will post with all the details tomorrow.
