HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat thread is here. Be sure to check the end of last week's thread for several new posts and a lovely photo from Limpy.
The Full Moon is Wednesday! Everyone have a wonderful week!
Wet day here today. I also have had a visit to the Dentist and luckily only have three small things to be done, all in the one appointment. Could not get an appointment until January 7th though.
Heather - Glad you arrived home safely, sorry about the uncomfortable journey. Hope you have a nice time with your brother.
Diane - I hope you have a good time with your family at Thanksgiving.
Rosy - I love the idea of Grandparents Day, you must have enjoyed it , I wish we had the same thing here.
Annette - So glad that Lightenings's ordeal is over, hope you are managing with the pain killing drops, I know cats can be difficult over things like that. How is Peanut? he is a firm favourite of mine now!
OG - After your comment on the Bogroy Hotel, I am now a bit apprehensive about our Club lunch and crossing my fingers that it will be alright. We had an excellent lunch there last year but it is a different chef this year, he is back after two years away apparently.
Brenda - when you told us that your Dental Hygienist is nicknamed the butcher it reminded me of when I was expecting my first baby. My Doctor did not do confinements and passed me over to another doctor in the Practice. When I was telling a friend about it, they said 'Oh, you have got the 'Butcher of Banbury!' You can imagine how I felt, especially since your doctor delivered the baby in those days, I did not dare to ask how she got that name!
Dibnlib - Poor you, with all that heavy shopping!
Cheese parcel arrived. Tiler? Well, what do you think? we phoned at 4:30 and programmer was “busy on another phone” so we left a message, but we shall phone again in five minutes!
Dibnlib – sorry the better timetabling meant the bus didn’t come around your way – and I think that walk was uphill too! Maybe you will have to do half a shop one day and other half the next! You must be exhausted after swim and walk from bus and then dog-walk – good that you had a couple of chats to break up Benson’s walk a bit! Good you saw the squirrel, too. Have a lovely evening out and take care tomorrow!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
OG, I am sure you are ready to tell that "tiler" just what you really think of him and his non appearance. I hope he has a very good reason.
Dibnlib, You should sleep well tonight. Sorry you had such a long walk home with all your shopping, especially as you had already completed such a long swim. I admire your stamina, as you then took Benson for a walk.
Rita, If I had heard a Dr nicknamed " Butcher of Banbury, " was to deliver my baby, I think I would have been terrified. I presume you found that she was fine :-))
OG I agree with BRENDA! You will be on the case, I am sure!
DIBNLIB - Grrr. The improved bus service? Sorry that you had to carry a heavy shopping home. No wonder you felt unwell.
GEORGE - It was lovely to see a post from you. I hope that you enjoy your son's visit.
RITA - Hope that your club lunch will be OK. It is a fact that any restaurant depends for it's reputation on the chef that is there at the time. OH and I are always reluctant to recommend an eating place for that reason. However, DIBNLIB's favourite, Rocpool, is always consistent in respect of quality.
ROSY - I have been reading and happy to see that you are enjoying your time with the family in the US. I like the idea of Granny Day!
LINDY - If you don't have a large loft I can understand your storage problems. I am not a hoarder but OH is. All his old electric razors, old computers, old pairs of specs are in our loft. I think I have said this before, on here. I keep telling him that when we shuffle off this mortal coil the family will have so much junk to go through that precious things will be discarded by accident. He is beginning to listen to me.... I don't allow excess stuff in the rest of the house. For one thing, it would require a lot of dusting etc :-(
ANNETTE - I think that I love Peanut! Happy that your puss's teeth have been sorted.
DIANE - I hope that you are OK, I was shocked to read that you had had what seems to us here, to be a lot of snow.
AQ - Again, my admiration for what you and the family are doing to help your daughter. My middle daughter struggles even though her children are older.
I'm trying to see if I can book my brother on a flight north on Sunday and a return flight next Thursday. His ferry times are the problem. If he was to fly then he has to get from Plymouth to Bristol by train and then a bus or taxi to Bristol Airport which is not in Bristol(!)and then the reverse. I will speak with him this evening and see if it is possible to help him.
I know that I must have missed some replies. Thinking about MARGO - I think that she reads here every day.
OG: How annoying that the tiler has not made an appearance. It seems to be the case these days, that workmen feel they can promise a day or time, and then let you down, sometimes without any explanation. Hope he turns up to finish your bathroom soon.
Rosy: I would have been apprehensive too. Did you have a home birth?
Dibnlib: I know what you mean, I can't carry heavy bags as easily these days. You do well with your swimming, it must be good for you.
I had an enjoyable visit to my Friend. They had just had lunch out and were lighting a cosy fire in their pretty cottage. She liked my birthday card, which had dogs & cats drawn in an amusing way on the front. She is now hobbling around and managing without her crutches when at home, and is doing her exercises religiously.
Brenda - Yes I was terrified of 'The Butcher of Banbury' delivering my first chlld but I have survived to tell the tale! She was actually a very chirpy little Welsh woman and it all went off perfectly alright, thank goodness! I never discovered quite why she had that nickname.
Brenda and Lindybird - I think that you have muddled me up with Rosy. No, it was'nt a home birth, I went into a Maternity Home but they always called for your Doctor to deliver the baby. After that, I had two Home births, with different Doctors each time as we lived in different places. I really loved my babies being born at home, a very pleasant experience compared to Hospital.
Rita, My apologies. I knew I was talking to you, so I don't know what made me write the wrong name. I have edited my post.
Horrible yesterday with mid 30 temps & gusty north winds. Bushfire started near Pinery & quickly spread south threatening Mallala & Wasleys. Cool change with wind change turned fire towards Freeling, Kapunda, Nuriootpa, etc. I know the area well. 2 confirmed dead, dozen in hospital with burns; houses, livestock, 90,000 hectares farmland burnt. Difficult to control as its perimeter stretches 210 km. Still windy overnight & this morn.
AQ - How awful to hear about those bushfires and so frightening for all those living in the area and sad for those losing their homes and livestock, do hope it will be under control soon.
