HAPPY NEW WEEK!

Last week's chat thread is here.

Hi, all. I just thought I'd start the new thread since Annette has been busy with family/friends and is probably tired.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week. Not long before autumn now.

  • I'll tell you the answer to the maths question when Mia has her homework marked. LizFW- Your answer is, I think, similar to what Mia thought. All very confusing to me, I'm afraid.CLARE- I hope you are right! I must say that when my daughter read out the questions to me, the way that they were worded was odd, to my way of thinking. Hey! What if my teacher relative is wrong? I maybe won't tell her. It might spoil her holidays. (She works in England. Our Scottish school holidays are over now)

AQ- I hope that your OH will feel better, soon. (And you, also!) What a day you had. Homemade soup is the very best. I make soup but I rather think that OG makes more than me. Her recipes always sound tasty.

LINDY- I eat quite a lot of cheese and my cholesterol was a bit high 10 years ago. I haven't had it tested since. I'll take my chances..I'm not recommending that everyone should be as reckless as I am.

  • Missed your post LINDY. I'm so glad that your OH is doing well xx. I know what it is like when we are waiting for OH's check up results

  • Hello, all. Busy morning – including some time in the garden – then visit to chiropodist for us both, followed by visit to Coffee Shop for me while OH collected his new glasses, home to cook dinner and then an evening phone call to Daughter#2 – and now the day is nearly gone!

Heather – sounds like a big, but sensible, decision over the hedge – what will you and OH replace it with? Re the Maths question – either 120 or 132, depending how you read it – probably the obvious 120 for a 10 year old! As OH said, there is really no answer to such a badly worded question!

AQ – sounds as if you need to be at home caring for your OH rather than the Grandchildren – and what about your own cough and cold? Did the doc offer to treat you too? I hope everyone will be rid of the viruses and infections very soon.

Annette – BBL is “Be Back Later” – because I really did intend to put in another appearance before this! I think I heard a news bulletin which mentioned wild fires in Southern California as well as further north – I hope they aren’t too close to you. I hope breakfast was good!

Clare – I hope your day at Minsmere went well, with the weather not too “disgusting”. Light rain reached us from the east mid-afternoon, but stopped by about 6; a red sunset here, but I think we shall get weather from the west tomorrow, at least we get variety! Lovely to see Mrs Woodpecker!

Linda – sorry doc insisted re BP pill – which kind is it? I have three different ones! J has to have regular cholesterol tests, and was told by one nurse it was high, so change his diet and get retested. After two months, it was .1 higher, and a different nurse said it was satisfactory! Pleased the Christie was happy with your OH; sorry the visit took you so long – and well done Bonnie for being good!

Talking of blood tests, mine are due tomorrow afternoon, but I’m not sure what else is in the diary! For now, good night!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Hi all, not going to look back.  Been away for the weekend. Now have new computer installed and am pleased with it.Also I am entitled to a free upgrade to Windows 10 apparently so have reserved it and have arranged for it to be downloaded on the 20th August in the evening.  Will then have to learn to get to grips with it.  Didn't I read on here that you, OG, have upgraded to windows 10?

Going out for a belated Fathers' Day/come birthday meal courtesy of the "kids" on Friday evening to a local pub which we understand does some nice meals.  Went to a Turkish restaurant on Sunday and had a lovely meal with brother and Dau..

Hope you are all keeping well and that Margo is not too bad.

  • {{{HUGS}}} to Margo

    Heather – 120. Don’t kids learn 2-times, 3-times, . . 10-times tables any more?

Linda – I take fish oil capsules, hoping they help the arthritic joints plus keep bp down.

OG – I go to a different doc. I think OH’s is an old fuddy duddy, not very communicative.

We both feel slightly better today. OH’s antibiotics have reduced his horrible cough. My cough medicine is breaking up my chest stuff. Meanwhile I have hurt my back again – the penalty for not feeling up to exercises lately. I have to recover fast as I have a bus trip on Sunday. I forecast another day lounging on the lounge . . .

  • Evening all:

Heather: I think it's a trick question (but then, I blew math so as far as I'm concerned, What is 2+2? could well be a trick question).   I'm wondering if Liz LFW isn't on to something with 132.  Ten years since your last cholesterol? I assume you're a proponent of the French Paradox?  Incidentally, the current newsletter from one of our top teaching hospitals reports that perhaps cheese isn't as bad as previously thought; in fact, they are speculating that the French Paradox isn't due to wine intake - but cheese!  Hurray!  :-))

Lindybird: What a frustrating day! Glad doc is overall pleased with both of you.

OG:  Thanks for translating.  No fires in our iommediate area - at least for now.

Lynette: Did you see Diane's post (a couple of weeks ago) on installing/working with Windows 10?

AQ: I don't think kids are taught anything by rote anymore (even though I still remember those times tables).  I think they're supposed to think critically (!!). Glad you're doing a bit better.  Let's hope no more nanny duty this week for either of you - you need to be well for your bus trip!

Off to bed.  Just spied our friendly neighborhood possum poking about under the bird feeder.

Have a good Wednesday. Do hope Margo is doing a bit better on all fronts.

  • Annette - I've coughed my back out of kilter plus I'm paying 'cos I didn't feel like doing my exercises. Just made a physio appt for tomorrow.

Dau is making other plans for OH's Thurs nanny day. I can't get out of mine on Friday as I have been booked long ago to assist Dau with her Doc. He wants to see MissJ again and Miss3 is due her next immunization. I hope he's not too late as kids can't be allowed to roam waiting room (whooping cough around). I've already warned Dau that I can do no lifting, no carrying. For naps I'll just rock MissL in chair & let Dau transfer her to cot. I have to pass on MissJ as she will only go to sleep if one paces the floor.

Whenever I am knitting complicated patterns, I wish I had learnt more times-tables, such as 17-times and 19-times. What's stopping me now, you ask? Maybe something I can do waiting at traffic lights LOL.

  • Thank you to all who have wished OH & me well. Also thanks for your comments on my travel pics.

  • Good Morning All. Had a good nights sleep, to get over our stressful day yesterday.Sorry I'm not up to date with replies, frustratingly I lost one post, and then yesterday it was a huge effort just to come on with my report of our "health" day! Today, hoping for a bit more 'me' time: off to get my hair done, visiting sis-in-law on her birthday, and getting some of my photos of Amber printed off. AQ - you sound as if you are both seriously poorly - please do take care of yourselves. I hope you're well enough at the weekend to enjoy your trip.
  • Hello hope you are all doing well.  Haven't really been on this thread or many of the osprey ones for that matter. This year has been soooo hectic. Anyway as it made me smile a lot hopefully these snaps of Tapaidh enjoying her first Mr Whippy ice cream with her dad at the beach - while I work will cheer your afternoon . But at least summer has kind of arrived in Scotland
