Hallo all:
OG: Love the photo of the two ducks (not sure which kind). But which of you got down on the ground to get that shot? The details on the drake are really striking.
Heather: I remember Circassian Circles - but only the name! What a wonderful time you had, sounds like so much fun.
Rita: Congratulations on your knee. Good for you. Seems like a lots of folks on here will be happy to cheer you along in rehab. :-) Do you have one of those walkers? (I think they call them Zimmer frames over there).
I'll be up at 6 a.m. to watch Federer/Djokovich game.
Here's to a good week for everyone and hope Margo is doing okay.
Off to do the floors now........
Morning all:
Lindybird: I suspect there's every chance Bonnie ate her collar.
AQ: I'm with you on celebrity-chef cookware. Who ARE these people? Re kettles: We have a wonderful Krups (Model BW700853. 1.75 litres, 54 oz) electric kettle that boils very quickly. I don't fill it up most of the time, but even when I do, it's fast. We had some friends over the other week and the wife jumped up from the table when I was boiling water for tea to see what make it was coz it was so much quieter than the the one she has. It was US$39.99 at Bed,Bath & Beyond (with $5 discount coupon yet!!). Congrats on charming the twins - onward and upward.
Brenda: Pile driving in clay did you say? We've had major disruption in our neighborhood for the last 15 months as CalTrans (California Dept. of Transportation) has done major excavations under the freeway to insert huge drains to cope with heavy rain (the stuff of dreams right now). There's been a new outbreak of pile driving equipment bashing away at various locations, including one that starts up at 7:30 a.m. and goes off and on, but mostly the latter, until lunch, then starts up again until 4 p.m. (I have to schedule my garden naps with the operator's lunch hour.) Anyway, the latest effort has been going on for almost two weeks and we got a notice from CalTrans saying there'd be a three-day pile driving project starting next Tuesday right at the bottom of our road and to expect noise. I called to enquire if they weren't referring to the one currently bashing away and he said "Oh that's not us, that's the railroad." Ugh. Apparently, the railroad is replacing the bridge over the tracks. I plan to have lots of "away" activities during those three days. It won't bother OH at all.
Gray coastal overcast here today; nice and cool.
Brenda ouch on the piles and good luck with the powers that be.
We had a house built on a raft and it cost the insurers a bomb when drains failed due to builder error and they had to break it. We moved out.
Enjoying Mull not ones for group trips but everyday has given us amazing " spots".
Resting hands as no Daisy as line OG have bad trigger finger x 2. As away doc agreed to doing both but I don't think one is OK. Op to sort it is not an option as my life is too hectic to be out of action. Mind you I can bend it down to order and my girls call it my party piece.
It seem 3 Osprey have been spotted so maybe WTE GE and Osprey for Mull;-)
While Brenda warns small kettles are more expensive to run, Annette tells me small ones do exist. If I can’t find one here, obviously I should flit over to SoCal shop LOL. Last night’s meal was very ordinary. My veal just OK but the veggies were al dente hours earlier! OH enjoyed his pasta with Italian sausage. Too full to bother with dessert. Today I finish sewing up Dau’s jacket. I shall surprise her tomorrow as I haven’t been telling her of progress, not wanting to jinx it. I haven’t had to undo any mistakes! Next is a short sleeved cotton summer top for her, 4 ply, much slower. She said she felt greedy asking for two. However I enjoy knitting and don’t mind. OH has nanny duty today so shall I have a lazy day or maybe I should attack some cleaning. A bit of both?
Good Morning Everyone. Another dull, misty, murky morning. Everywhere is wet from the mist. We did get some sun yesterday, late afternoon / evening but it was a very humid night. We had the fan on all night in the bedroom.
Annette, You understand why we are dreading the pile driving :-(( We are also having to insist on a management site plan. i.e. No parking of their vehicles in our Close and days / hours of work. Trouble is, we have already caused the builder so many problems in the last six months, we don't see him being too considerate when he finally is allowed to start building. He doesn't have the best of reputations, when dealing with people, but he does build excellent houses. We just have to remain very alert !! Sorry you have had the problem near to you. One neighbour suggested that we all go away for a year. LOL
AQ, Have a look on line for your kettle.Congratulations on finishing your daughter's jacket. I am sure she will be thrilled.Sorry about your meal, but that is how we learn which restaurants we will never use again, but then your OH enjoyed his meal. LOL Some places just don't know how to cook the vegetables correctly. Either they have been cooked much earlier, others overcooked, or they are completely raw.Enjoy your lazy/ cleaning day.
Wendy, Two trigger fingers sounds a painful inconvenience. Having seen my BiL with his one trigger finger, it can also be entertaining for his family. They never know what might fly from his hand when his finger releases.
Linda, My husband is a pain, he just likes to keep all the photo's on the computer, which is never the same as looking through an album. Our neighbour's pup has managed to cut the back of my hand again. She gets so excited when she greets you, and I stupidly always put my hand down to stroke her, whereupon she jumps up and then her pin like claws draw blood. Her very garden proud owner is distraught at the damage her pup is doing to her fragile plants.
Good Morning all and thanks for your kind thoughts. now recovering from last chemo treatment. Have to say it takes a while now for me to feel what is normal for me. Injections are more painful as my arms and stomach have taken a real battering now. Bad bruising on my stomach this time and skin starting to come off in sheets on both arms and stomach. Injections never really bothered me but I am getting to dread them now. At least I am starting to eat more again. Several, years ago I had some non malignant skin cancers removed. Think I may have something that will need removal behind my ear. My hairdresser said it seems to getting larger so have made appointment to see the doctor next Monday to have it checked. Hoping that I will not have to have surgical removal because having injecions to deaden it will be very painful to say the least so I hope that it can be treated by another method.
Obviously life has been a bit quiet for me so not much to tell you. OH took the day off yesterday to go up to London and took his Mum on a late Mothers Day treat. They had a very enjoyable lunch on a cruise down the Thames, enjoyed some wine and had a good chat. She phoned me to let me know how much she had enjoyed herself and said 2 glasses of wine had made her feel a bit tipsy so she was going to have a little nap. I never fail to be impressed at the way she enjoys life very much at 85 years of age.
OH is taking a week off next week which I am looking forward to. We will be going to see our friend who recently lost her husband but apart from that will decide what to do on the day. I am sure we will be eating out a few times during the week. OH wants to do some jobs in the garden, things he doesn't get time to do on a weekend and generally relax a little and as always it will be good to spend quality time with him. Hoping the weather will brighten up a bit, not had a lot of sunshine this week, a little rain here and there but so gloomy have had to have lights on during the day.
rita hope you are feeling better and nausea has abated. You sound as though you are being well looked after by your family.
Heather so pleased you enjoyed the wedding. Mention of The Gay Gordons took me right back to school days when we had country dancing classes at school.
Brenda pleased you have had some success re planning application but it will be so noisy for you. Just read you have a sore hand again.
Lindybird lovely pic of a very bonny Mathew. How quickly they grow up. You will be relieved when all the work going on next door is finished. Our next door neighbour is having a new kitchen fitted and it has been going on for 3 weeks! Lots of banging and various vehicles parking in places the shouldn't be in. Expect you were pleased to find out Bonnie had not eaten her collar.
Annette see you are in for a very noisy time. You seem to have been very busy of late.
AQ thanks for all your travel news and pics, am working my way through. Pleased that nanny day was not too bad and enjoy your day off.
OG thanks for posting your photos how lovely and clear they are. Your "tea" sounded delicious and very good value.
george thiinking of you and hoping you have had some news about your health problem.
Sorry for so few replies but I get so far behind these days but I do enjoy reading all the news.
Have a good day and take care.
