WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY JULY 12, 2015

Hallo all:

OG: Love the photo of the two ducks (not sure which kind). But which of you got down on the ground to get that shot?  The details on the drake are really striking.

Heather: I remember Circassian Circles - but only the name!  What a wonderful time you had, sounds like so much fun.

Rita: Congratulations on your knee.  Good for you.  Seems like a lots of folks on here will be happy to cheer you along in rehab.  :-)  Do you have one of those walkers? (I think they call them Zimmer frames over there).

I'll be up at 6 a.m. to watch Federer/Djokovich game.

Here's to a good week for everyone and hope Margo is doing okay.

  • Good Morning. A cloudy, misty, murky morning here. Becoming more humid.

I was woken at 6am this morning by our son, who somehow pressed his redial on his mobile. He is still laughing at his mother answering the phone, while still lying with her head still on the pillow. He did say that my hair looked a sight !!!

AQ, Small kettles are usually more expensive on electricity. For some reason they are not as efficient. I do try to remember to fill the kettle to the 2 cup level only. I suppose we all prefer a fast boiling kettle. Pleased to see that your 'nanny day', was a little easier for you. Hope you enjoyed your meal out.

I need another cup of tea.

  • Good Morning, All. Sunny start here today. Still strangely changeable weather all over UK, but suppose that's the norm! Our Youngest has taken his family to our caravan in Wales this week, so we have our fingers crossed for them.
  • Wendy - Nice to hear from you again. Enjoy the wonderful island, it must be quite exciting to have chances of seeing such rare birds & animals. Brenda - That's quite a battle you have on your hands with the next door development. Fingers crossed that you can keep it to a minimum. Thank goodness we have only room for one dwelling next door to us - the disruption has been almost non stop and in the last ten days they have been adding a huge extension to the house, thankfully on the other side from us. The deliveries of materials, banging and shouting seem non stop. I tell myself that at least they are now getting on with it - its been about 18 months now and the place is far from finished. We have half our house in darkness as have to keep the blinds down for privacy, the next door is swathed in scaffolding ready to render the entire outside eventually, and workmen can gaze directly into our bedroom!
  • Brenda - that was one unwanted phone call! Had to laugh! AQ - hope you had a relaxing meal out.
  • Linda, We are dreading the build actually starting. There is clay here, so they will have to use hydraulic machinery for the piling, to insert major 'stilts' ( about 9 metres down) until they hit firm rock., before they then lay the foundations. We have sent in our latest objections this morning. Now we have to wait until this evenings meeting, which we can attend, but not allowed to speak. The County Councillors will be speaking for us !!

  • Only just realised that it is St Swithin's day. We have a steady drizzle at the moment :-((

  • OH NO!!!!!!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Sunny here! It would have been my dear Mothers birthday today - she always reminded us it was St. Swithins as she was a keen gardener and had mixed feelings about the saying, as if it was a hot dry July she wanted rain for the garden - but not for 40 days, LOL! More replies later, I must dash to the hairdressers. I leave my OH searching hopefully not in vain, for Bonnie's collar which he's taken off and can't find.... ....(she was an absolute devil yesterday.....)
  • We are off to the dentist now. Still drizzling rain.

  • Quiet on here since this morning, so you are all either running around on errands, or sitting in the sun. I've just come in because I'm too hot & I told my OH not to put the parasol out, as I really should be inside, mopping all my tiled floors :-(
