Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey Topics), 5 July 2015

HAPPY NEW WEEK!

Last week's Chat thread is here.

I hope everyone is safe from the bad weather in the U.K.

Margo: Sorry it was so frightful for you.

Clare: Congratulations on your new opportunity at Minsmere. Enjoy!

Brenda: Sorry you lost your match with the men folks. :-) I'm sure your new roses are lovely.

Lindy: I hope you enjoy your time in Wales.

Annette: So glad you all had such a nice day at the beach.

Heather: I hope things are improving for your family in France.

AQ: I've enjoyed looking at your photos. I like the Koroit Library, the Cape Nelson Lighthouse, and the Portland Tram; also, I want to live in the little Kalangadoo Church with the green roof! Very lovely.

You might be interested in seeing this old Catholic church near me: see here and here. Built in 1886, it stands in the rustic, restored 19th century Billie Creek Village in Parke County. Also, here's the historic old Log Church, built in 1871, in what is now Turkey Run State Park/Forest near me.

Hello to everyone. I hope this post makes sense. My neighbors are blasting off huge fireworks. They terrify me. I hope they don't set the woods on fire. Poor, poor wildlife. I hate July 4th.

  • Here's hoping it soon clears up Clare.

  • Clare Bailey said:

Hi, all.  She appears to have had a recurrence of Tietze's Syndrome, which is causing her pain and making her feel ill.  She is taking painkillers and has been prescribed something to stop her being sick, so fingers crossed!

Clare pleased they have found out what is wrong. Hope medication will now set Helen on the road to recovery.

  • Thanks, Margo.  How are you doing today?

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Chemo week so feeling a little jaded to be honest. Just as I start to perk up 4 weeks flashes by and we start the whole process again. 10 injections over 5 days make my arms and stomach feel very tender. What I tell myself is I am still here.

  • Ouch.  I bet they do - I can only hope you haven't my fear of injections to contend with.  The number of times I wish I was frightened of something normal, like spiders.......!  I'm very glad you're still here with us.  I think you manage amazingly well.

  • Clare, that sounds a terribly painful illness, poor Helen. Can it come back again I hope not poor wee thing and on summer holidays aswell or have Helens not started yet. I hope the medication works quickly and she can get back to pastimes and hobbies she enjoys such as her horse riding.

  • Sadly, it can come back again - she has had symptoms of this before, though not to the point that it made her sick.  I just hope it won't be for a good while to come.  Our school term hasn't finished yet - she breaks up in just under two weeks' time.

  • By the way Helen has asked me to pass on her thanks - she reacted in pleased surprise when I told her that people on here were wishing her their best.

  • Annette - do hope the family situation re g.dau will resolve itself now that ex has been sorted out so to speak. It can't be much fun when a partnership has to break up for whatever reasons.  glad to see you did your grocery shop. I've become lazy as well as giving dau. a break at the weekends so do mine on line.

OG - got it wrong again. lol.

Lindybird - hope you had a lovely break.

Cooler and sunny today have to see what tomorrow brings as it says it will be warmer!

  • Rita, Margo, and Heather - hope you are all feeling a lot better soon.

Saw our local news and an American entrepeneur donated one of two Spitfires to the Duxford War Museum and William was invited to sit in the cockpit - quite at home.  Also the government have advised all Britons not to go to Tunisia as the situation has become quite volotile - they say there could be another attack on British citizens. What is the world coming to.

AQ - hopefully it won't be too long before the twins oblige. It's always difficult when the get overtired to try and get them down for a nap and wake them again, they are grumpy to begin with. Hope the "nannying" gets less stressful for you.
