WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, MAY 31, 2015

Hallo all!  Pies, champagne, snacks on some folks menus and yes, OG, you will get addicted to BBC Rewind.

  • Heather - Was glad to hear that you were able to stop your OH getting too physical in the garden. Also that the job got done in the end. Hope that things get better for Amy with regards the insulin.
  • OG: A good boost for J; hope the contract or confirmation offer follows quickly.

Lindybird:  Ah yes, Bonnie will get tangled in record time and you'll spend even more time untangling her....and so on and so on....  Bonnie does get around; must check my closet to make sure slippers present and accounted for....

Heather: These young men do come in handy - and they make it look so easy. Nice that you forced some cash on him.  We had a neighbor's son and his friend do some work (a couple of years back). While my OH went off to get what I thought was a paltry sum from the kitty to pay them with, I snuck them a few extra $$$ and told them to keep mum - then my OH came back with twice what he'd said he'd give them and the two boys looked at me as if to say "What do we do now?"  I just winked and they went on their way, two times richer - well it was the weekend so it probably came in very handy. Hope daughter and Amy have a peaceful night - with more to come....

    Take care all.

  • Good Morning, All. Not as sunny this morning, but dry today. Feel better about the garden now that its (almost) totally de-weeded, and we have plants in the tubs and baskets. Sat up late last night trying to sort through old papers & magazines; they seem to breed in corners, probably because I don't sit down with a paper nowadays for more than a couple of minutes! Soon be the weekend again, where has the week gone?!
  • Good morning, all.  It was sunny when I got up but it's now seriously dark outside, the heavens have well and truly opened and it's thundering loudly with lots of accompanying lightning.  Joyous.

I'm so pleased Limpy's not at Minsmere today!!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • CLARE - I well remember those storms on the east coast around there - used to scare me witless, and they lasted so long!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Sorry you're having storms, Clare:   I thought about you yesterday and again this morning, as we have a noisy family of Starlings visiting our suet ball feeder.  The Dad sits on top of our tower where it hangs, and the Mum goes down to grip the suet feeder and pass mouthfuls to the two noisy chicks, whilst they all shout!!  Most amusing to see.  Gradually the young ones are getting braver and beginning to cling onto the feeder themselves.

  • CONTAINED AT LAST

When the sad day comes for my funereal car, then
Just look around for a clean jam jar -
For I don't need any fancy cask, or
A big metal urn, I would not ask.

    Please don't weep for me,
And don't ever feel too sad,
For a truly wonderful life is what I've had
With so many friends, loving family too,
I'm sure I've had a good life, perhaps enough
    To be meant for two.

A clear shiny glass, with nothing to hide:
For all my life, I really tried
Never to have a different "side" -
But be true to myself, and
    Those I love
And those who I will be caring for
When I look down, from "Above".

So put me up on a shelf  so high,
    Where you can remember me,
    And occasionally, sigh.
Remember the laughter, the tears and
The fun - remember how once
    We were together, and young.

In my clear jam jar, now, which was just
    Something which once contained
    Summer's sweet red fruit but
May as well now contain me
    In my Sunday best suit!

  • LOL!!!!  Brilliant, Lindy!

  • Glad you enjoyed - been scribbling all around the house on scraps of paper ever since Limpy said about the jar. But today I've had to try & read my writing, LOL!!
