Hallo all! Pies, champagne, snacks on some folks menus and yes, OG, you will get addicted to BBC Rewind.

Lovely sunny day here, too. Have washed some cushion covers, put out the laundry, cleaned out a couple of kitchen cupboards (the easy ones!) and now about to catch up on my emails. We have w a a y too many, don't know where they all come from. My OH says it might be because I buy a lot of stuff online!
First instalment of baby pics from the Baptism day:
"You grab my frock, and then I'll hold your hand!"
Matthew is such a smiler! I have the feeling that he will always be like that!
Lovely pics, LINDY.Also the ones of Bonnie watching TV!
Thanks to all for your news and chat. Not much happening here, it is cool and not the kind of weather that I like for gardening. We have just had lunch, OH decided that we should have some heat while we eat! Ridiculous in June but we put the heating on. He was at the indoor bowls this morning, they all had their jackets on :-((
MARGO- good to hear about your latest results!
GEORGE - thinking about you.
Regards to all.
Typically, real summer weather on OH’s museum duty day! But we did a few odd jobs in the garden during the morning, then I went with him for half an hour to see the current exhibition. He brought me home and then went back and I am supposed to be busy indoors!
Vivienne – had to laugh at your original reaction to Miss Jean Brodie, I am sure she prided herself (and her girls) on having the perfect Morningside accent! Have you never had conversation (in English, I don’t mean Gaelic) with folk from The Hebrides, with their lovely sing-song lilt? I actually find the Paisley accent the hardest to follow – they speak so fast!
Lynette – pleased your OH passed his check-up, and I hope the cat continues well on the current medication.
AQ – I hope the wee twin will soon be well, and that there isn’t a virus for the other two to catch as well!
Linda – why are there always so many broken biscuits in the packets? And they don’t even taste like the broken biscuits we could get from a tin at the grocer when we were young – they were all kinds jumbled together and had a taste all their own! Lovely pics of the baby cousins!
Brenda – I hope you are enjoying the bowls in this lovely sunshine. So we can blame Friday’s weather on your hair appointment?!
Heather – hope all is well with your family. Sorry you still have it cold. I hope George will let us know how he got on Wednesday.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Yes, OG, all is as well as can be expected! Alison up sorting Amy's insulin every two hours last night, that seems to happen more frequently than we would like.
I've just had to bully my OH.I found him in the back garden swinging a pick, trying to remove a huge piece of concrete that he found when preparing to plant a new climbing rose. He thinks that it is from the previous fence, concrete for the old fence post. I tied to get it out but no luck. Time to call the cavalry aka sons in law, methinks!!
Thanks so much for that advice Lindy!!
Morning all: Had a wonderfully productive day yesterday and wasn't even tired when I got home. Today it's more work in the garden, then off to the gym, then OH and I are taking a friend out to dinner whose wife is out of state (on nanny duty) for two weeks.
OG: Fingers crossed for fab weather for you. What a nice surprise to see the swans. I heard a lot of wing noises in the garden the other morning and looked out to see 10 huge ring-necked pigeons gathered on the ground. Never seen that many before; must've been some emergency meeting!
Lindybird: Any thought of getting one of those long metal stakes (especially for dogs) and sticking it in the middle of the lawn, so Bonnie will be tethered - on a long leash of course - but still be able to run around while you work? You can throw a few weeds her way to keep her busy. Great shots of the kiddies; such a pretty girl. Wonder what it's like to be able to hold your toes up to your tummy...
AQ: How did the currant slices turn out with the extra flour? Too bad Miss 3 didn't take to the nursery/day care option. I mean, does she know how much fun she's missing with "grown up" friends rather than hanging out withe mere babies? :-) Who's hosting the birthday party?
Heather: Hope it warms up for you.
George: How are you doing?
Vivienne: I may have missed some of Lindy's instructions re posting pix, but am assuming you do know you have to click on Use Rich Formatting to get to all those icons she was talking about. Also, if the image is high resolution it can take a while to upload. If you know how to resize it (from 300 dpi to 72 dpi) it'll load faster. Once it has appeared, you can click on the edges to change the size on the page. Good luck.
Off to start the day.
Been watering garden, greenhouse etc just in case tomorrow’s rain disappears off the radar; I have left OH out there with the hosepipe. We prefer to keep the soil damp as it’s so much easier that way than trying to re-moisten it once it has dried out.
Heather – sorry to see that Amy’s insulin is still unstable. I do hope it will improve soon, as they both need their sleep for work and school. I am glad you succeeded in stopping your OH and the pick – you’ll need to watch him carefully until the Sons-in-Law are available!
Vivienne – hi! I hope you and yours are well.
Annette – sounds like you are back to full strength fitness now, but don’t push yourself too hard! Wood Pigeon was looking in my kitchen window this afternoon and his expression suggested he wanted me to do something about the cacophony of young Starlings and their parents; all he wanted was to get to the water, but they seemed to be everywhere! We used a goat tether for our first dog when we were away camping and it worked fine but the later ones seemed to be able to unscrew it out of the ground!
Good news today for J – Headteacher was asked by ASL boss if he wanted to keep J at that school next year, and he said he would – hope to see it in writing very soon. Secondary age would be best, but the school he knows is much better than moving to yet another one, and there have been fears of redundancies in support posts.
OG- so glad to see good news regarding J's job.
I won't have to worry about OH and the pick, a young man was working in next door's garden and realized what was going on. He came around later and did the job for OH. So kind of him, he didn't want to take anything but I told him that nobody argues with me:-)))
