It is a huge privilege to start this new thread, especially after a day like yesterday.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my mother, father, all ospreys worldwide and Tiger for drawing in his claws and stepping back.
I wish us all a less confused day of watching and attempting to interpret, and EJ and Odin the very best luck in the world in their defence of the most famous Osprey nest in the world.
Greetings all fellow 'midnighters'.
Some people think Ospreys are a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.
I've asked on the blog which bird they're calling Fenrir - OC or the black banded male.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
I'm assuming it's the male that brought EJ the other fish piece they have dubbed Fenrir, whichever one that was? Like Moffer I'm a little bewildered still!
Just taking a quick sneaky peek from work on my phone, I couldn't just not check!!! Don't tell the boss :)

Morning all, just caught up. Have asked Jen to confirm there are only two males. Certainly didn't look like that yesterday. Just shows we are not really in a position to get the full picture. Not in this instance anyway. So is Fenrir, OC?
Thanks Clare for asking - I too am confused other than knowing now it was not Odin on the nest :-(
But to chose "Fenrir" ! Quote... "We have therefore chosen a name for him since he is unringed. Fenrir (pronounced FIN-reer) is a wolf in Norse mythology who devours the Norse god, Odin."
Sorry but definitely not for me!
The bird which Moffer captured with the fish at 0934 (Page 9) is the one they are now calling Fen.
Birdies LG DU update.
No idea what happened there, and who landed.
IMAGICAT
Intrusion, landed and flew. No idea who. EJ alarmed and flattened in the nest cup.

I also find the name inappropriate. We know the name from Norse mythology, which was then used in the Harry Potter books. I suppose they thought that Odin was dead at the time they named the intruder.
Have to go now - will look in from time to time to check developments -SYAL.
