There are two intruders. Odin is clearly chasing off one while EJ is defending the nest from the other.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

I think that the evidence suggests that Odin is not deterring the intruder. Why that is so we do not know but it seems to be the inevitable conclusion.
