Hi all: Don't forget to check last few comments of last week's chat and a lovely photo from OG - of Loch Garten I assume. Alan: Wonderful close up of EJ on the last Daily Update. Thanks to everyone else for all the news from far and wide.
Just in from Earth Day event, which had a lot more transportation (electric/natural gas, etc) options on display this year, including bikes of all shapes and sizes (SB is a big bike town with lots of bike paths, even throughout downtown). Spoke to a friend of a friend there who is setting up a raptor rescue center at the Natural History Museum; also the California Condor group who are trying to figure out how to set up a live cam at the condor feeding station in the back country. They're thinking maybe solar power, but then there's the problem of relaying the signal, etc. If that's successful, they may try one at the nesting sites, but the problem is that condors don't nest in trees - they like caves, so a logistical hurdle for further down the road. Not to mention the "permit" hurdles, which are major given that the condors are still highly endangered. In addition to the usual solar, green, organic farms, foods and other community display booths there was the usual band and "green" gifts area. Didn't buy anything but did visit my friend with his spiffy electric car and bumped into another friend - a "Master Gardener" at another booth where we sat and chatted for an hour.
All quiet on the LG and LOTL nests right now; doesn't look windy or wet.
Morning all ... just returned from shopping mission. OH got back from Canada safely last night :))) ... just a week late, but very fortunate that he was well looked after during that time.
Caerann - fingers crossed for you & the job
Diane ... hope your storm is not too bad. I too am an avid fan of the BOT owls and have the screen open all the time ... I hope they will lay eggs soon & that our bad winter has not put them off. I look forward to checking out the spectacled bear site.
Alan - I hope you found Hamish's shed intact when you checked!
OG - I too check on Lily's site every day ... some lovely pics and videos
Annette - your celebration meal sounds lovely ... my kind of food!
Thanks to everyone else for chat etc .... polyospreys ?????
Take care
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

Hello, All: Gosh, I've got about 3 pages to catch up on here, you lot have been very busy! Thanks to OG for the gorgeous pic of Hope the baby bear, just like the original teddy bear. I'll read back the rest of the posts shortly, when I have checked the Daily Page as well.
Im late on today as have been sitting in the Doctors waiting room, drumming my fingers. Have had some minor problems, so my lovely lady Doctor decided to send me for all sorts of tests, a kind of M.O.T. Went today to discuss the results, and it seems I'm fine as regards a whole lot of scary conditions, which is very comforting. My minor problem can be managed by lifestyle changes including, wait for it! - dieting, have to lose some weight and walk more, to get the old circulation going. So now I'm hoping we're going to get this lovely summer we have been promised, so I can get out there and be active.
Its really sunny here today, so the forecast for the weekend could be right and we're going to be able to get out in the garden, great! Hope you all (in UK) have good weather and enjoy it.
OG your query on volcano cam, no picture.
It is cloudy so nothing much to see. I am using Firefox, but it should be the same for IE, I will check before posting this. You will need this download as well as Adobe Flash Player 10. Once you get it working you can right click on the picture to toggle to and from full screen. Windows7 has stretch which allows you to zoom in really close, by stretching the image. I am also posting a screen print of the dialog box you get by right clicking the image. Now here it is in IE...the images ar coming up in reverse order, so this is the first and since taken a few minutes later the plume is visible. Sorry about the overlap!

Annette: I lifted the phone to advise my friend of his notoriety, then I promptly put it down, thinking, I better wait to tell him personally..........in any event he and his wife are off to La Belle France for a break....best to wait I thought.
Good morning Lindybird so peased that nothing serious showed. Of course osprey watching is not exercise but it has to be done so hope you will still be able to take time out for this. Wether looks awful at LG and as yet no fish for EJ but I imagine Odin will be having difficulty with the rain. What terrible weather they have had to put up with since their return.
Annette - So glad that your meal was good. I would happily (more than happily) eat all the items that you chose, but not so sure about your OH's - apart from his pudding!!
Arn't Polyospreys those things which the Night Shift kept seeing last year on the webcam at dusk? ? !!
