Hallo all:
Soosin posted the following about her Saturday and various bird sightings, etc., at the very end of the last Daily Update, so I'm copying it here otherwise no-one will see them (she saw mating kingfishers!). And Alan posted some new links, which are also here (Hope that was okay Soosin and Alan).

Unknown said: Annette and Cirrus: I sooo regret that I didn't see the fireball. I have seen the videos, and it was really awesome. It rattled windows and caused trees and the ground to shake. Reports were of four to five minutes of explosions or rumbling, and the light was visible for 15 minutes! Hmmm. And, although the meteor crash site has been narrowed down, no impact site has been found. Hmmm. Very strange! Here's the video of the fireball. I assume you can see it outside the U.S. http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/04/15/midwest.fireball/index.html News report for the midwest: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100415/ap_on_re_us/us_midwest_meteor News report for Indianapolis: http://www.theindychannel.com/news/23159118/detail.html Has anybody been watching V, the new series about alien invasion?

Hi Diane, WOW! Thanks for the video clips. The sight of a fireball is amazing and that one really did look awesome. Scary too!
I have only ever seen one burning meteorite so far, many years ago, and although it seemed huge at the time it was far smaller than that. I thought it was an aeroplane on fire until an explanation appeared in the media.
I wouldn't imagine there would be an impact site as it appeared to explode. Whatever fragments survived would be spread out over a large area.

Diane Thank you for that. That was really good thank you.

Good morning Lindybird glad your dog is better. My sister's springer is always eating things he shouldn't and seems to have a liking for twigs. Unfortately he had to have an op a little while ago as he had bitten off more than he could chew and had a blockage.
Glad you had a nice anniversary dinner.
Margobird
Morning everyone,
OG : Thanks for the "live" picture from LG and I am glad you had a good holiday.
Lindybird : Glad your dog is better. Hamish had a bout of sickness last week. He is always eating stuff he is not supposed to and being on his special diet doesnt help. Dogs recover quickly though and he is fine now.
Margobird : Good morning to you. The weather here is cloudy with some sunshine but still that nagging wind.
Everyone else thanks for chat, links etc.
Nothing special planned today so should be around quite a lot to watch events as they unfold.
Hello all. Had to pop in during lunch break (OH is a gardener and I work with him on Fridays, so he's been back at work two weeks now, winter so cold here grass has hardly grown). Caught up earlier this morning and now for another fix.
Welcome back OG, well done on getting mentioned in dispatches. By the time I get to LG at the end of May they'll be inundated with cake!
Thanks for the fireball vid, Diane, wow that would be something to see, scary. Went to look at the sunset last night and had a good view of Venus but there was cloud all along the horizon so I think Mercury was hidden, also a very attractive sliver of crescent moon just above the cloud. Took my binoculars and now wish I could have seen through bins or telescope when I was young, so much more to see than with the naked eye.

Hello All: Started dull here today but since mid morning ,we've had lovely bright sunshine. Still a bit of a nip in that wind, though.
Barbara Jean: Hope today finds you better, you sounded as if you were having a bad time of it yesterday.
dibnlib: Forgot to say, re Mark Nyman - I will ask him for you when I come across him next, what he thinks of the new Countdown Programme. I only watch it occasionally myself - can do some of the anagrams etc but I'm completely hopeless with the mathematical part. Used to enjoy watching Carol do the amazing sums without rehearsal, so quickly, though!
Yesterday went to see "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" at the cinema. Well photographed and acted, with lots of atmospheric bits, but we were disappointed to find it had subtitles, so glad my OH was not there, as he hates them. Also, would not recommend it to people who do not like screen violence/sexual violence as it did not pull any punches, rather graphic.
Nice to see both EJ and Marge sitting on eggs in the sun today.
Morning all: Up late and up early - not a fab combo; will probably nap today.
Lindybird: Heard a radio interview with the publisher of Steig L's (forgot his last name) books and the producer-director?? of the movie and several people called in about the violence. Had been interested in seeing the movie and reading the books, but since theirs and your report, decided not to.
We are on a roll getting things cleaned up around here; off I go.

WATTLE thank you , the caption said 3 squirrels but for the life of me I could only see 2, but now I have looked more carefully I can see the 3rd - any advance on 3 ?????
Walked at Nairn beach this am and there was a faint smell of sulpher (must be the fallout from the Iceland volcano. Thought to begin with it was the iffy water between the beach and forest, but when it persisted we decided it must be the dust cloud. Saw a buzzard on the way and then a heron, oyster catchers and cormorants.
