Happy Easter all!
OK. So EJ and Odin safely at LG, but what has happened to the LOTL cam. Haven't been able to get anything. It looks like it's going to load okay, then you get just a black screen. Let's hope they get it sorted soon. Margobird said they'd had horrible weather there yesterday, so maybe that knocked out something.
Well, I missed Odin's arrival but thanks to BigRab, there's a video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4EoYaRO6js which I plan to watch myself in a minute.
Busy day here, also amazed to see Trucker cam is now in Albuquerque - boy! does that guy ever cover ground. So I really have to follow him tomorrow (along with you-know-who) because I've driven that road and just love the huge wide horizons. But it's also Easter, so a bit of family stuff going on. Bought some lovely strawberries from the farm down the road and then went to supermarket and bought some naughty cheese (fattening double cream French Brie), mushrooms stuffed with all kinds of yummy stuff and simply couldn't turn down Haagen Dazs's invite to try - "at special introduction price" - new Java Chip flavor with coffee and chocolate chips. Was at Costco earlier and got some great asparagus and Wild Alaska Halibut. So we had a nice dinner, but ice cream still unopened - for now.
These two really need to stop being slackers! (lazy)
How deceptively large this nest box seemed until now:
That's Bob Anderson of the Raptor Resource Project, btw.
Deleted post because I don't care anymore.
Welcome home, Caerann. Sorry the return trip was so tough. Didn't see the PBS show tonight. I'll try to catch it when they re-run it.
Morning all.
Lindybird Wonderful camellia. Mine hasn't started flowering yet - lots of buds, though. I think we sited it wrongly as there are large trees beyond our garden which create a lot of shade.
Annette What a wonderful visit to the Space Center (see, I spelled it your way!). My sisters, assorted boyfriends and I sat up all night watching the coverage of the first moon landing - parents were away. The excitement was immense. We don't have any heating in our container - we're made of sterner stuff here! (In truth, we'd all love a covered training area for use in winter and in adverse weather but it's not an option at present.
Is anyone having difficulty getting a picture from LotL? I'm just getting a black screen. Perhaps they turn off their camera overnight.
I don't want to talk about my camellia- the minus temperatures devasted it . All buds 'burned' and dropped and all the leaves eventually dropped too. I just hope it's still alive. :( Wonderful pic Lindybird.
Morning All. Cirrus, if it makes you feel any better: I didn't add that we have another camellia at the front of the house, where there is very little sun, and all the buds except for about 3 have dropped off, leaving about 300 on the floor! Must have got the frost.
Annette: Just sooo jealous that you saw the Mission Control, how cool! Enjoyed your description.
No weather here today, its not windy, nor is there any sun or rain! Just a bit cloudy. Hope to get the laundry on the line if I can drag myself away from the screen and EJ.
Linda, we have a lovely sunny morning here after a cold night. I am sure the sun will arrive with you.
Morning
I have been on holiday (not gone anywhere just pottered around home) Today I have the sky engineer coming to fix my skybox. Knowing my luck it will work perfectly when he is here. I have been reading through and catching up on events at LG. I couldn't cope with all the webcams, forums etc that some of you seem to read.
I would love to visit LG, unfortunately it is not possible so I will have to content myself with the pictures.
Off now to watch some of todays events.
PS Is there somewhere that I can permanently untick the box at the bottom of this post to stop getting email replies if I forget to untick it each time?
Good morning Lindybird lovely picture of your camellia, what a glorious splash of colour.
Teririble that nests are still being plundered by humans and if it were not for so many volunteers in the country the situation would be even worse. Just cannot understand people who do that. What sort of pleasure can that give, much better to see the living bird surely.

Cirrus That's the site I use too. I've watched the ISS for several years. From when it was just a small weak light moving across the evening sky to a really bright light that is so obviously something "special" Our next sighting in Central Scotland is around 6 am on Saturday. I'll probably still be asleep :)
3 or 4 years ago we had a special visit at school. Our upper primary children were invited to the local secondary school for a meeting with an astronaut in training. He hadn't yet been given a date for his mission but he was trained and ready to go. For a long time I called him my astronaut.
He eventually became a crew member on STS-118 in 2007. My astronaut became a real astronaut. He is due to return to the ISS later this year. It will be the last shuttle mission.
Having been one of those who sat up all night to watch Neil Armstrong step on the Moon it is quite surreal to think My Astronaut will be one of the last to fly on the Shuttle.
