THE LG OSPREY GABFEST FOR MARCH 2015

IN THE HUMAN BREAST HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL

In February we said goodbye to Millicent, EJ's 100th chick to fledge from the famous nest. We continue to watch Breagha, our only remaining tagged  osprey juvenile.

In March we await the arrival of EJ and Oden, to start another family of fascinating bobbleheads.

  • Earliest guess was Pica, March 31 at 15:17. That time has already come and gone.

Latest guess was Susan D Tues March 31 14:50.   No one guessed into April for a date.

At this point all I can say is "The sooner the better"!

  • While we wait for EJ, a pic from the Cincinnati Zoo

I could make the pic smaller, butt it's an elephant isn't it?  It's supposed to be big.

  • No new arrivals on UK Ospreys since Glaslyn female two days ago.

I am off in the morning to Bunratty - Co Clare between Limerick and Shannon for a few days so see what news greets me when I reach my destination.

Maybe when I return we will have additions to Glaslyn and RW Site B.

Nothing in the nests within 10 mile radius of home or in Aberdeen area that I looked at last week. Have asked Alan on his sightings page what the scenario is at the straits as this gives a benchmark.

UK Ospreys is flashing 7 late arrivals in red on the board. Thanks ShielaFE for the countdown tab on UK Ospreys.

  • Best wishes for you on Monday Cringer!

Keith have good journey and hopefully by the time you get there there will be afew more arrivals!

June love your elephant beautiful and intelligent creatures.

  • 58 Willow - Maybe I can hitch a ride with the Irish Rugby Team travelling home tomorrow from Edinburgh and then have a Guiness when I arrive.

C RInger - Hope everything goes well for you on Monday and look forward to many future discussions with you. You capture an interested audiance.

  • Glad y'all liked the elephant.  BTW she is dedicated to somebody special who likes elephants.

  • Keith I expect there will be many guinesses guzzled there tonight! Triumphant in the 6 Nations!

Very best for Cringer and you BOTH captured an interested audience!

Enjoy your Guiness and good journey to Ireland!

  • Never having heard of  Bunratty, I just now took a very quick streetwalk there.  It looked very GREEN.  Will go back when I have more time.

But County Clare, Limerick and Shannon - how familiar, musical and lovely they sound.  Why didn't I think to do some streetwalking around some familiar names for St. Patrick's day.

By the time you get back in three days Keith EJ could be on her nest, but I think not yet.  I still think 25th or later.

  • June - I hedged my bet for 26th I think.

It appears some birds are later based on previous returns and UK Opsreys has 7 of the followed birds flashing late.

However we have seen in the past Late Years.

I am staying at Bunratty Castle so you can take a walk around there and find a good watering hole for me to have a Guiness. I am switching my work from Oil and Gas to Pharmaceutical for this trip but the process is similar.

Our tablets are made like Petroleum Sprit (Gasolene).

    Just missed St Patricks Day.

  • I remember you switched to pharmaceutical once before - in Dublin, I think.

I wonder how they celebrate St Patrick's Day in Ireland, do you know?  Is it a national holiday or a religious holiday or a combination of both?  And how to they mark the occasion? Besides that here are two Irelands.

We have parades, wear something green, listen to some American/Irish music, maybe drink some green beer and pretend we're Irish even if we're not.

I think the Irish may be more serious about it that we are.  Maybe a Northern Ireland friend will tell us.
