Daily Update, Tuesday, March 30

Looks really cold at LG and LotL tonight with the LG nest under snow?  Also noticed earlier - before the snow arrived -  that the light at LG isn't nearly as bright as it has been.  And poor Marge all on her ownsome at LotL.

  • Ha Ha, Tiger:    Perhaps her opinion of males is much the same as us ladies: Argue with them, but can't live without 'em!

  • Cirrus - don't be cross with Tiger - he was captioning the video of the year of OVS - she didn't yet know Odin!!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Oh, OG  - OK., didn't understand that. I was tongue in cheek though.  :) Having read the 'history'  it does seem to me that one of, if not , the, happiest season for EJ was with Odin. I long for him to return safely. Did you see Tiger's pics of Odin? Four pics making up one image. Wonderful!  Such a handsome bird,

  • I too am an Odin fan all the way - OVS became a less than adequate provider, but he was man of the moment at the beginning of that season!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Odin is the greatest but I do hope he is safe.  The weather at LG seems even worse now and you can hardly see the nest and it is snowing heavily.  I keep saying it but I am so worried for her.  Hope she has found a bit of shelter in a tree somewhere.  Going to turn off soon as it upsets me to see this. the nest at lOL has no snow but the wind is horrendous and Mabel/Marje is hanging on tight still searching the skies.  Think itwill be a while before their respective mates arrive.

  • Morning all:  Thanks for links, comments. Weather looks ghastly, but this, too shall pass.  (Easy for me to say, sitting here in the sunshine!)

  • Finally, I see Marge at LOTL nest got herself a fish. I am so happy for her. I thought she might be forced into a fast today seeing as how the wind must have made it SO difficult to see fish in the water as well as catch it. All the girls need to be in good fettle for the egg producing so I hope EJ bagged herself a fish too. All I've seen of EJ today is a pic posted by  Sue C which I appreciated very much.

  • Hi everyone.

Thanks for all the updates.  Things looking quite rough at LG.  Still snowing and no sign of EJ, since I started watching, over an hour ago.  I really hope she's got somewhere less exposed to shelter in and she manages to get food.

Good to find out Marge has got herself a fish at LOtL.  There's quite a bit of wind up there by the look and sound of it.

    Paul.

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

  • Still looking grim there. Good to see Marge on the nest.

Haven't seen EJ today, if she has any sense she is sheltering. If there is a "good" time for bad weather to be got out the way, this is it, before the eggs get laid:)

  • I also have not see EJ today but there is no need to worry. Lots of ospreys head for Findhorn Bay to fish in the estuary and there will be no snow there.
