WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2015

Happy New Week all

  • Hello all

Thank you for posts, chat and pictures.LYNETTE- I hope that your daughter wins through. It really is shocking to be given that kind of news by email.

LINDA- Have a wonderful holiday, you both need it xx

Not much news from here, Sheana still mentally frail, four phone calls yesterday, she is now convinced that she is being sent to the far north of Scotland. OH thinks that he will never see properly again, I keep telling him that it is only seven days since cataract surgery. Youngest daughter's rented house has been put up for sale and they haven't yet saved enough for a deposit to buy a house and can't find one to rent. Major panics there. I think that I will sneak into LINDA's suitcase but don't think there will be space, too many pairs of sandals:-))))

  • Just come on, and so sad to hear the news of Millie :-(( I understand the reasoning about the decision not to tag any more, its expensive and they have learned a lot from it, so perhaps best to just ring the youngsters and wait & hope that one day they may return.
  • Heather & Annette - funny you should mention the sandals......they were the last things to try & fit into the cases, after I got everything else in! I ended up with one pair of beach Crocs, one pair of walking shoes (on my feet) and one pair of Birkenstock sandals for everything else.... two other pairs of shoes left forlornly on the carpet! The cases are below the weight limit, but very full! I think I'll just sneak in some folding slippers....... ;-)
  • Heather - I think it varies, with cataract surgery - my OH had a sort of milky view of the world after the first operation, for over two weeks. With the 2nd one, it was better within 48 hours. So tell him to hang on in there! {HUGS}. Sorry to hear about your daughter. Hope something can be done.
  • Will do, LINDA! I'm afraid that he is one of the 'Manflu' brigade. In his defence, he nearly lost a leg when he was young, he had osteomyelitis and the docs at Aberdeen Royal had to scrounge penicillin for him in the 1940s,he spent six months in hospital. He has what he says is pig bone (?) in his right tibia. Also, had his tonsils removed on the kitchen table!! This sort of thing is so remote from modern health care and unfortunately he still fears the worst regarding health matters. If you know what I mean.

  • Linda, Do have a fantastic holiday. You both need and deserve a really good break.

  • Looks like I am way behind again! I went to the dentist this morning to get that filling replaced – again! Weather was extremely changeable today; could be called “sunshine and showers”, and this morning was a pleasant drive with a lot of sunshine, but afternoon showers varied from rain to sleet to hail to snow and back to rain! Rivers are full and overflowing again (high tide meets water from the hills).

Lmac – lovely photos from Barra.

Annette – sorry the whales were not spectacular during your shift, maybe next week … . Pleased the garden got some rain.

Clare – so pleased you have another interview this week; wishing you success on Thursday.

Dibnlib – enjoy your break in Pitlochry – good that you can take Benson and enjoy some new walks with him thereabouts.

Heather – bad about Sheana’s confusion; did the doc suggest any physical cause when he checked her last week, or is it purely her mind failing now? Sorry your OH is not so happy about his cataract op after all; I am sure there is still time for improvement. He certainly has been through some unfortunate medical experiences. Sorry about your youngest Daughter’s housing problem; I hope they will be able to stay in Elgin for the girls to continue at the same schools.

Have been reducing saved digital photos with OH, but having a break as his eyes are running a bit with his cold. Blood tests day again tomorrow; where is the year going?

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Heather, Sorry your OH can't see a quick results from his op. My OH had, only what I would describe as immediate results, on both occasions, but his sister had to wait a couple of weeks before she noted a difference. My OH's were 'done' very early, I think because of his glaucoma, but his sister's were left very late. She postponed twice !! She has since needed to have remaining ' floaters' zapped.
Sorry to hear about poor Sheana.
You must be worried about your daughter. I do hope she finds a suitable house to rent.
Is it time for you to visit your brother again LOL

  • Yes, just read about Millie on my FB page and so went to the blog.Very sad.

Lynette – I was interested that you have decided on membership of your “new” church, as we are faced with the same question. Having been CofE before, there was no joining as such, because it is there for all, but we joined the CofS after we moved here, and, when that church hurt J, I left and said I would never join a church again, but of course membership is generally a big issue in theBaptist Church we now attend. Sorry your Daughter’s work situation has become so bad, and may be a legal issue; I hope it eventually works out in her favour.

OG - apparently I can become a member by faith and do not have to have full immersion baptism. I did make it clear to our minister that I didn't want baptism as I had been baptised as a baby and made a commitment and became a member of the Methodist church as a young adult.  He was OK with that so await to hear futher.

All - thanks for your concern over Dau.   Apparently the meeting was called off as the Chairperson was having a medical trauma. The other organisation that dau. works for has offered her work in the summer holidays at a summer club so by Easter she will be working full time. In the meantime she is working for an After Schools club and is on the bank to go in to pre-school if someone is ill etc. All with the same organisation. So somewhere , someone, has looked down on her plus the fact that they are a decent bunch to work for.

Back on track and went to the gym this am. Managed to get up to speed so will be there again on Thursday.
