Evening all:
Lindybird: Love those poppies - such a wonderful rich color. I love tulips that color too.
AQ: Glad you're feeling better; sorry about the heat.
Rita:The Epi doesn't usually bloom until June.....
Battling my way through this jigsaw, which is the hardest one I've ever done (although Van Gogh's Irises was pretty challenging). However, am packing it in now and enjoying a taste-test comparison of Hagen Daaz's Caramel Gelato and Dulce de Leche ice cream. The gelato is much smoother, but I think I prefer the texture of the ice cream. Both are very sweet, almost too much...
Anyway, have a nice Sunday everyone, especially Margo, who I hope is feeling better and enjoying some time with her OH. Also hallo to George!
Morning, all - I'm keeping everything crossed! Jobs with companies like this don't tend to come along very often as they inevitably have very low turnovers of staff.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Morning everyone-
CLARE- I have my fingers crossed too!
OG- OH was just given a letter to take to his optician in six weeks time. Until then two different types of eye drops four times a day.
ANNETTE/LINDA- I just may need to trawl the shops today but as usual, when looking for something I never find it. I need a new lightweight hooded jacket. Not elegant but practical since I don't drive. Brollies and shopping bags don't mix.
Everyone, have a good day, I'll try and make more replies later.
Good Morning Everyone. The rain hasn't stopped here and forecast for the rest of the day.
AQ, I hope your daughter is now getting treatment for her earache and your 'nanny day' wasn't too exhausting. I presume you could be on call again if she is still feeling so bad.
Lynette, Sorry you have shoulder pain, which has reduced your swimming session.
Heather, Strange how different the post cataract operation care seems to be. My OH had to go back to the hospital a few days after the op and then again after 6 weeks. He was then told he could see his optician, after a further couple of weeks. for new glasses.
Clare, I hope the postman brings good news.
Lovely pictures on tv of the Northern Lights. Did anybody see them ? They should be seen in Scotland and Northern England tonight.
Hello All - lovely sunny day here at the moment, I think it is going to change later on. Have hoovered right through and have the windows wide open, listening to the birds singing outside!
Lynette - I am sorry about your shoulder , hope it will clear up soon. I know just what it feels like as I still have a bad shoulder.
Annette - I love Lavateras, they grow very quickly and I do admire them in other people's gardens. Here however, with the bad frosts I get, they seem to die in the winter. I have not had one for a long time, perhaps I will try another one.
Brenda - If it is a clear night tonight I will try to remember to look out for the Northern Lights. I have seen them a few times and it varies each time, sometimes it is wonderful, great beams of light that arc right across the sky. I have never seen the bright colours though.
Hi BRENDA, We often don't see the Northern lights, I assume because of light pollution here in town? Years ago when we lived up high on the edge of town we did see them. DIBNLIB May be lucky if weather is favourable and they are visible from here. My ignorance is stupendous. I must find out more.
Yes,it is odd how cataract aftercare is different in different areas. OH is at the optician just now, getting a clear lens in his specs on the treated side. That is because the new implant is correcting his vision now, and he doesn't need the lens in his specs any more. The surgeon asked him what kind of lens he wanted. My old boy who has been wearing glasses for distance for 70 odd years but can read without specs, asked for one of each!! So that he can read with one eye and see to drive with the other. I'm sure that all will be well in the end.......
Quite spring-like again today – feeling inspired and started work in the greenhouse. Only did half an hour this morning, now sitting down after some lunch, and hope to do an hour this afternoon – no good trying to rush it, the hip was already complaining when I started! Snowdrops and crocuses are looking lovely, and early rhubarb is well above ground now. Birds joyfully chirping their varied songs – what more could we want; I wouldn’t miss spring in the UK for anything!
I’ll be back later to write replies.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
OG I appear to have flagged your post in error, stupid left handed fingers again. Sorry xx
