Evening all:
Lindybird: Love those poppies - such a wonderful rich color. I love tulips that color too.
AQ: Glad you're feeling better; sorry about the heat.
Rita:The Epi doesn't usually bloom until June.....
Battling my way through this jigsaw, which is the hardest one I've ever done (although Van Gogh's Irises was pretty challenging). However, am packing it in now and enjoying a taste-test comparison of Hagen Daaz's Caramel Gelato and Dulce de Leche ice cream. The gelato is much smoother, but I think I prefer the texture of the ice cream. Both are very sweet, almost too much...
Anyway, have a nice Sunday everyone, especially Margo, who I hope is feeling better and enjoying some time with her OH. Also hallo to George!
That's a shame, Starling, but at least your first days with him won't involve looking after him because he's ill. I'm in no doubt you'll want to give him lots of cuddles!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Hello troops hope life is good. Been on holiday in the western Isles - Barra, where technology has been non existent for me. Beautiful beach walks had to leave early as all ferries were cancelled due to red weather alert.
Skim read through this week thus far, so hope all poorly and having ops are recovering well. Claire good luck for the interview, 3rd one so I bet this is the lucky one. Lindy both Bonnie and Amber are adorable.
Starling, a word of advice which my vet gave me, take the puppy straight to your vet for a check before taking home. A night under your roof you will never take back and may end up with a very expensive project. We took his advice and the first thing he noticed was a jaw problem (undershot) on Tapaidh which means we can never show or breed her. She came with a letter from the breeders vet which clearly states no jaw abnormalities. She may prove to be an expensive friend but we couldn't take her back as I was so attached but we did think long and hard that day. It may cost us a lot in dental problems or it may cost us nothing......chance we are taking.
Hello All - Drizzly wet day today but warm. Spent all day doing mundane jobs, washing and ironing sheets, paperwork, etc. Forgot about pancakes last night and as I really like them I might have them tonight instead. Sorry you had a power cut Brenda, but glad it was after your cooking.
Starling - What a shame to have to wait another week for your puppy, but it is better for him to be fully recovered first. Have you decided on a name yet?
Clare - I am keeping my fingers crossed for you, do hope you get the job. Is Limpy recovered now? at least enough to visit Minsmere.
Margo - Nice to have a long post from you and to hear that you are feeling better now. A nice surprise to have your OH home earlier than expected.
Lindybird - What lovely pictures of your adorable little Bonnie, you must be so looking forward to having her home. Also, what a lovely baby Amber is, I enjoyed the photos of her. You seem to be getting to grips with your new computer now. I also have to keep on signing into this site, it is rather annoying although it only takes a minute.
Annette - Hope that you soon start seeing the whales again. Re-my cactus flowers, the Star shaped flower was Stapelia Gigantea, several inches across but has a rather unpleasant smell to attract flies, not that I ever see any around it. The white flower was a Gymnocalycium, I have a few different species but none with such a pure white flower.
Heather - Do hope that your OH is recovering and feeling better about the whole experience now it is over.(or nearly over).
Have a nice evening everyone, including all I have not mentioned.
Quick look in here: I have to sign in once a week, but the day can vary. Thanks ALL for nice posts of comings and goings.
Margo: Good to see you!
Rita: I see the Stapelia's common name is Carrion Flower. Perhaps if it were outside it would attract flies. Maybe I'll just be content with your photo!
Starling: Sorry pup's arrival is delayed.
Off to does some garden tidying up.
Margo: Just a thought: I assume the nurses are giving you guidance on vitamin, etc. intake. I remember when my Mom had had surgery (a different situation I know) and I wanted to make sure she had all the good supplements, the doc told me to hold off until her system had recovered a bit more. Those were pills though, not the "smoothie" type supplements they have now.
Lmac - I had a spaniel with the same problem as Tapaidh.

Been lurking again, but not posted, and there were so many things I intended to reply to. I can’t go through them all now, but you all deserve replies, so I’ll just say thanks for all posts and leave it at that. Most of the appreciation, regret, admiration, special thoughts etc has already been said by others!
Note to self: must try harder! Now I shall have to sign in, which only happens to me about once a week, most often Sunday or Monday. Shall be out at garden centre and then Asda tomorrow, so will need a sit down in the evening!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
OG: Don't worry about responding to everyone all the time. I seem to go through cycles of making long replies or brief responses.
Did some major pruning (with a small saw) of one of the Lavateras, which grow super fast in the summer. The green bin is full, but the plant itself looks only marginally tidied up!
