WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY FEBRUARY 8, 2015

Hi everyone!

  • I told OH he wasn't to buy me flowers for today as they always charge too much, but he ignored me. A dozen long stem roses have just been delivered. I did enjoy receiving them :-)))

  • How nice, Brenda! I got a bunch of red tulips, which are really cheerful. We are having a Stay In Valentines Night, with a bottle of red wine and a supermarket special, which includes fillet steak & sticky toffee pudding!!

    {{{HUGS}}} to Margo

This week I was hit with a summer cold, most likely caught at church on Sunday – nasty unchristian thoughts about people who don’t stay home with their bugs. OH did my nanny duty yesterday after his usual Thurs while I dripped & snuffled & slept. I am feeling slightly better today, if only it weren’t so hot.

I sure I'm allergic to summer/I yawn and I trip and I grumble!/I would rather prefer/To live somewhere cooler/Be it ever so humble!
    I AM wearing less/- like a light summer dress/And I still get tired & itchy/as the day heats up to 41 C
    {Apologies to Linda, but I couldn’t resist]

LOL AQ!! Very good!!! Wish I could send you some of our "coolth" to offset the warmth!
  • Hello all

I got nothing for Valentine's Day!! Well, 15 years or so ago, I got a card. For years I dug it out and displayed it just for fun. See these Scotsmen - they don't have a romantic bone in their body...

OG- you are a brave soul to even think about choosing a gift for a teenager. If I don't get a hint from their Mum I always opt for a gift voucher. Amazon is always good.

AQ- hope that you feel better soon.

Everyone - thanks for news. I'm wondering about GEORGE.

  • Morning all:

Heather: I'm sharing with you - and everyone else - the white roses I woke up to find this morning (I love white flowers and these are almost David Austin-like). Heaven only knows how OH smuggled them into the house; I suspect they spent the night in his shower. Please do something Really Nice for yourself this weekend and make a note (for next year)to send yourself some flowers, then claim ignorance when your OH asks who sent them.

George: Heather (and now I'm sure others) wonder how you're doing?  Hugs to you.  :-)

  • Hello All -  Happy Valentines Day to Everyone, pleased to hear about the lovely flowers that some of you received.  It is a long time since I have  had a valentine card or present but when my husband was alive  we always gave each other cards and presents and usually went out for an evening meal.   One year I gave him a dog!  we had a Dalmatian already but my OH was always saying that he missed our Boxer dog and when I saw one advertised for sale in the local paper  I thought it would make a nice present for him.  We called in to see her on the way to the Restaurant, then talked about it all through the meal and called into the owners  on the way home and said that we would like to have her.   We took her on the following weekend  on a three week trial to see if she got on well with our Dalmation and also on the understanding that the owners could have her back if they missed her too much, they had not really wanted to part with her.  Both the dogs got on really well right from the beginning, they were both 18 months old and about the same size and had years  and years of happy lives together, so that was a very successful Valentines Day present!

  • After two days of unaccustomed gardening I feel quite tired today and have done nothing much except some ironing.  Did not sleep very well last night as I had a very aching shoulder and it is not much better today.

Annette - loved the picture of your epiphyllum, they are beautiful flowers  are'nt they? I like the sound of your white roses too.

George - I am also wondering if all is well with you.

Margo -  Hope that you are feeling better .

Enjoy the rest of the day everyone, especially those having a romantic meal!!

  • RITA - ironing+aching shoulder= more ache in shoulder. I hope that tomorrow, you will take it easy!

  • Ha ha ANNETTE, I'm loving the white roses!

  • Rita - Sorry to hear about the shoulder, ouch! Just loved the doggy story!! Read it out loud to my OH! We enjoyed our steak very much (sorry to any vegetarians.....) and have demolished a bottle of red wine. The pud was nice, too! Oh, and we started with a nice bit of smoked salmon pate - yum!
