WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY FEBRUARY 8, 2015

Hi everyone!

  • Echo your ditti, Lindybird.

Wendy - glad you had a lovely time with eldest and that the weather held.

Annette - glad you had a lovely visit from friend but that you could also carry on your yoga class.

Went swimming as usual yesterday and recently have been doing 18 lengths in 3 x 6 bursts.  At least it seems to help my knee and heart condition.

Not doing a lot over the weekend but still trying to find a venue for Mothers Day lunch as its my turn to be pampered this year. We do it alternate years to keep costs down, especially for my dau. One year we go out on Fathers' Day the other Mothers' day. Now find out that son and his wife plus her dau and partner will be able to make it. This is the step-grand-daughter that is getting married in May.

  • Lovely, Lindy.

We've had a bit of rain here too today but not much.

Have a lovely weekend , all.

  • {{{HUGS}}} to Margo

This week I was hit with a summer cold, most likely caught at church on Sunday – nasty unchristian thoughts about people who don’t stay home with their bugs. OH did my nanny duty yesterday after his usual Thurs while I dripped & snuffled & slept. I am feeling slightly better today, if only it weren’t so hot.

I sure I'm allergic to summer/I yawn and I trip and I grumble!/I would rather prefer/To live somewhere cooler/Be it ever so humble!
    I AM wearing less/- like a light summer dress/And I still get tired & itchy/as the day heats up to 41 C
    {Apologies to Linda, but I couldn’t resist]

  • Hallo all:

Diane: That's a lovely looking coyote; those I've seen tend to be a bit more bedraggled.  We've had record heat, but not as hot (yesterday) as back in 1924!

Lindybird:  Re hippos, do you remember Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud?

Brenda: Hmmm. Trucks carrying snow away from Boston? Wonder if they could make it all the way to CA...

Wendyb: Always nice to hear they've got home safe.

OG: I'm sure your fall-back gift of Amazon voucher would be very welcome.

AQ:  I'm with you on the verse. One of my friends suggested we flee to the Orkneys; I countered with Point Reyes or Mendocino in Northern California.

Rita: Pesky Epiphyllum peaked while friend was here, but here's a photo from previous year.

Had a heckuva time taking pix of friend with new iPhone. We got one video (wasn't planning on that) of her not moving but with me muttering away at the controls; she then took one of me - well my feet, to start off with, (another inadvertent video) but I was upside down in the final version.  Clearly, we both must pay more attention!   :-)

Have a nice Valentine's Day all.  We are laying low and getting yummy treats from favorite market. I'll head to gym and then home to the garden.  Oh will do taxes.   Soooo romantic.  :-))

Annette: I've been hearing coyotes at night here on my land this winter. I went out on Monday late at night to disconnect my car battery charger, and I heard them not far away. They're beautiful. There are 19 subspecies of coyote, which differ in size, appearance, and behavior based on how much wolf DNA they carry. In Indiana, our Northeastern coyotes are larger and furry, because they have quite a bit of Canadian wolf DNA.

I envy you your warm weather. I'm so weary of the cold this year. I still may show up on your doorstep! LOL (Just kidding.)

  • Diane: I remember you mentioning that your coyotes were furrier than ours, but oh dear, I'm thinking of you heading into the dark cold night to unplug your car! I had a friend who lived in Alaska and they used to plug their cars in at night. Do hope it warms up for you guys soon - and of course the East is facing yet another terrible weekend. Meanwhile, no rain her - not even a pesky cloud! - in the forecast for the next 10 days.  I think I have reverse SAD. I'd offer to trade houses - but then again, maybe you should just come here. :-) Doubt I'd survive a real winter.  Have been futzing with my jigsaw this evening with one eye on The Roosevelts (that special from last September?) - very interesting. Off to bed now.  Take care.

  • Good Morning. A bit grey here, again, but its definitely warmer, thank goodness! Nice to hear from AQ but sorry that you're suffering - not surprising as you are having to put in such long hours to help the family. I expect the twins are growing fast now, goodness knows what it will be like when they are mobile, and into all kinds of mischief, LOL!! Hope you feel better soon.
  • Annette - What a beautiful flower!! Thanks for posting that nice pop of colour. Yesterday we were watching a programme being repeated about the relationship between Montgomery and Eisenhower during their collaboration in the 2nd World War - fascinating! Of course, those in the USA camp blamed Monty for the friction and those in the UK camp blamed Ike. They both seemed like interesting personalities.
  • Liked the pic and discussion on the Coyotes!!!!
  • Good Morning ALL. Our rain continued through the night, so everywhere still very wet and grey.

AQ, Sorry you have a summer cold. I agree about people coughing and sneezing in church, it can be as bad as the doctors waiting room !!

Annette, Thanks for your cheerful photograph. The contrast in the weather in America just emphasises how vast a country it is. I have seen posts from folk in SoCal. saying that they would love some of the snow moved to their areas. That is a challenge for somebody LOL

Diane, I presume coyote can be very noisy. I must admit, I don't enjoy listening to the foxes screaming and howling during the night.

It has started raining again !!
