I cannot find a new thread for Rutland 2015. Is that right?
News of new map today here
TRANSFERRED OVER...
EJ's Memorial Balgavies Loch Ospreys 2023
The EG is now back at the nest covering the egg ever deeper. I see that they normally lay between 5 and 8 eggs!.
Birdies LG DU update.
Now flown again.
2 jackdaws have been pecking about on the nest but have now flown
This cam is now alternating with Starr Ranch, I strive to set up Rutland early morning but think I was too late this morning :(
IMAGICAT
The egg is indeed well hidden:
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Yup, about half an hour too late for the egg. Also, for the sake of ospreys I'm only recording the wide-angle cam.
The egg is leading a charmed life already, as reported.
Eviction of "wrong" EG couple:
Shoo! and don't come back!
Intruding couple arrive, is driven off, egg-layer sits for a while, gets up and seems to cover egg with little bits 'n pieces? Male leaves, female leaves.
Scylla apparently they are known for their aggression during the nesting season as witnessed here. Not sure they are a match for an Osprey though!.
It will be interesting, MIKE (if only an osprey would decide to use this nest!)... as I said before, it should be no contest, with geese having such blunt beaks and toes ;-)
The egg is now uncovered, in full view and no EG.
