And from another angle. Will we get Ospreys on MB this year? I'm afraid this EG really needs to find a new home

She's covering the egg now presumbly in order to leave for a while?
Birdies LG DU update.
I would think so, clever bird.
Blimey - that's put the Egyptian geese among the pigeons! I'm sure it would be lovely to watch them raise their young.......bother is, they're just not ospreys.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

Jane in the past when there have been live cameras on a duck box it was common to see the nest empty BUT the clutch of eggs would be covered by down in order to keep them warm. I imagine here it is a case of protecting from predators as well or instead.
Do they then uncover them to lay the next one?

Just flown and yes I'm sure they do.
The Corvids were prospecting the nest and pinching nest material but did not find the egg. Looked very dangerous there for a moment!.
The corvids didn't find the egg? It must be really well hidden.
