Happy New Week all: OH and I are off to see The Imitation Game tonight, then will pick up dinner from our favorite Chinese restaurant on our way home.
Heather: You're not living a sheltered life, or if you are, we're all there with you (and happy to be so). Seems like bad language and a general lack of civility are endemic these days - it's so depressing. And to think the English language is so rich yet people have to use the "last resort" words first. :-(
Clare: My friend's daughter is a Downs Syndrome adult now and still needs supervision. It must be a huge worry, especially as parents age. Didn't know it could also mean heart problems as well.
Brenda: Hope the Quiz was fun.
Thanks all for posts! Take care.
Woo Hoo! They made it!
Annette: They've been climbing for two weeks. I imagine those socks -- and the men -- smell pretty bad. LOL
Thanks for the pics, Lynette.
Diane: What's the betting the first thing they wanted was a shower and a beer?
Lynette – I hope not too much damage to your knee. I know how much it hurts just to kneel on newbie. BTW kneeling is the only minus now. New knee feels OK any time and the numbness has gone. Well, it is almost 3 years since op!
I’ve had a Me-Day so far today. OH is on nanny duty & dropped me at bus stop to find my way to library for research. A short visit to a Scots church in North Tce to photo windows that were covered by scaffolding last May (it’s taken me 8 months to return). Now I have a free afternoon ahead, well part of, it’s already nearly 3 pm. How time flies. Unlike when I’m on nanny duty. Yes again tomorrow.
AQ - my left knee was done in 2007 and the numbness is permanent because of nerves which were damaged in the process. These are mostly near the surface, so it doesn't stop pain deeper down, so I know what Lynette is going through, and I most definitely can't attempt to kneel.
LYNETTE - I hope the swimming will ease the pain today, and that your other bruising will also be subsiding.
I had a call from the hospital appointments service yesterday, offering me an Eye Clinic cancellation today, which I have accepted. A mid-day appointment, so will mess up lunchtime - we shall have to eat out!
We are due to go to Wild Bunch meeting this evening - will see how we feel and whether we can produce an early dinner in time to get there!
We achieved some minor flinging-out yesterday - mostly for recycling. In the evening, I started "rationalising" the number of recipe books from which I only use a very few favourites; we started typing what we want and the books can go to an upcoming charity book sale. This will also free-up shelf-space in the dining room.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Hello everyone
What an achievement, climbing that granite face. I have been following it all. I still can't get my head around the tent thing even though when it is described I understand the way it was fixed, no way would I feel happy sleeping in it!
AQ- great that you managed a church visit in between your extra duties. What does your OH do when he is on duty? Presumably, not oven cleaning...
ANNETTE I do get your drift regarding S and the friend. She may be in for a big disappointment since S told me ages ago that she has left everything to her niece and nephew. Not only are they her closest relations, she feels that she owes that to them because when her parents died, their will had left everything to be sold and split between S and her brother. S negotiated that she would be able to stay in the family home as she had never married and had no other home. She promised to leave it to her brother's children. I shouldn't be putting this into the public domain and hope that it won't be seen by anyone who might be annoyed because I have done so. I'd better not say any more on the subject:-(
We visited Yosemite some years ago and saw the amazing El Capitan. What a feat these 2 guys acheived.
Morning all: I see the climbers waving bottles of champagne, not beer, around at the summit.
Heather: Your legacy re S will be no more knickers to track down!
OG: Every time you say you're going to a Wild Bunch meeting I visualize you and EE donning your leathers (with the Wild Bunch logo on the backs) and roaring off down the country lanes on your Harley's (do they make mobility Harleys? Maybe those three-wheelers?) I bet you both have Wild Bunch tattoos as well!
dibnlib: I keep meaning to go visit Yosemite again; it's only 8 hours up the road...
Am taking guinea pig home today - he's such a cutie and so chatty! Must go get the car sorted out and pack his little bag (carrots, apple slices and romaine lettuce). The things we do.....
Ha ha ANNETTE! I helped S with her banking etc for a few years before she went into care and her nephew took over (thankfully, and he does a good job financially). She is paying almost £900 weekly for the Home. Even with the Scottish Governments smallish contribution for personal care and her pension, her money will be disappearing quickly. I know what she had and believe me, it is melting faster than snow off a dyke !!
