WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY JANUARY 11, 2015

Happy New Week all: OH and I are off to see The Imitation Game tonight, then will pick up dinner from our favorite Chinese restaurant on our way home.

Heather: You're not living a sheltered life, or if you are, we're all there with you (and happy to be so). Seems like bad language and a general lack of civility are endemic these days - it's so depressing. And to think the English language is so rich yet people have to use the "last resort" words first. :-(

Clare: My friend's daughter is a Downs Syndrome adult now and still needs supervision. It must be a huge worry, especially as parents age. Didn't know it could also mean heart problems as well.

Brenda: Hope the Quiz was fun.

Thanks all for posts! Take care.

  • What a caring group you are. Thank you all for your support when I moan & groan. I shall think of you as I help with babes today. BTW it is overcast, likely to rain again, feels like winter LOL

Linda – I do pace myself as much as poss. I rest often between chores at Dau and neglect my own HW.

OG – Dau’s mood is so fragile I hesitate add my woes. My replacement knee is fine – it’s the one that’s “not yet bad enough” that I must protect.

Margo - Hope you have a good week despite the chemo.

Brenda – Miss3 would often be taken for a drive in the car to put her to sleep. It doesn’t seem to work with L or J. Dau has routine of sleeping bag & rocking quietly before popping into cot. J likes her milk just before she goes to sleep, L wants hers when she wakes! Sometimes just putting them in their sleeping bag is enough for eyes to close. Unfortunately J only sleeps 20-30 mins before the circus starts again.

Annette – Dau regularly visits her local Multiple Births Group. The mums provide support, advice & share no-longer wanted clothes & equipment. They also keep in touch via Facebook.

Good news that the roads have been cleared and risk assessment teams have deemed it safe for the Tour Down Under to go ahead through the bushfire damaged areas. It will be a welcome boost to the morale & economy of those towns. Cute pics today of kangaroo joeys with bandaged feet. Zoo is giving them 5-star accommodation until fit enough for release.

  • PS - Everything necessary is cleaned in advance of trips away, and of course our trips are shorter than most - max 7 nights, optimum about 5 nights!  I just don't do it all at once - if I tried, I would probably not be fit to travel.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • OG No way substandard!! You are my idol!. I don't think that you will have seen the verse I wrote just after Sam had gone back home on 3rd January!!!!!

Also, I worked night duty for 13 years while children were young. Sometimes I don't go to bed if we've got a very early start the next day. It is not difficult for me to do that. As a chronic insomniac sleep is a luxury that escapes me a lot of the time but I refuse to get stressed about it. Life could be a lot worse :-))))
  • Heather, I had to reread your post. I originally read, "he is only 66years younger than me "........ I had my eyes tested last month and they said my eyes were fine. LOL
Great that you have booked a holiday with him.

  • OG, There is no way that I would say that you are substandard. Your family, I know, would be shocked to hear you say that. You are, also, always so organised. I may sound OTT, but I do love to come home to no HW and fresh bedding. X

  • AQ: Maybe the thing to do is get someone in to do your housework during the months (years? - eeek!) you'll be helping daughter. Wish I were closer....

  • Hi, just caught up with all your news.

AQ - you are doing sterling work for your dau as any mum would but take care.  It is the one not done as you say, that has to be protected.  Mind you the one I had done is still tender, numb in part and a bit stiff but of course not the pain I had with it, so one can put up with mild discomfort.  I find though that I cannot kneel down satisfactorily so some housework gets left and done when I'm in the mood. Must'nt really complain though as my niggles compared with some.

OG - talking about dentists - had annual checkup today and all was well so not going back for another year unless something happens in the meantime.

Brenda, Heather, Rita, Lindybird, so lovely to read what you have been doing.

Margo - lovely to see you post and great that you are feeling somewhat better and able to do some housework.

Must change our beds, haven't been done for nearly 3 wks, usually leave it a fortnight.  Off to the gym tomorrow after having shopping delivered.  Mind you will have to call in at the supermarket on the way home as I can only get a certain item from this supermarket.  Why they don't all do the Warburtons green loaf (that's the thickest one of the three) I don't know.

Here are two pics from tonight, the chicks are growing and at present home alone.

Off now to browse through holiday cottages - OH has suggest we might go over to Norfolk for a few days in April so looking at them to see what takes my fancy.   They have to be cosy looking and with two bedrooms (1 twin) as we both have separate beds at home.  I'm sure I'll find one!!

Weather forecast for the week is terrific -  ughhhhhhh - storms and more storms with Scotland getting the brunt of the weather.  All of you up there stay safe and warm and do hope you don't get any power cuts.

Mum is back on the nest now.

  • Good Morning, All. Awoke early today, it was still dark here. However, I had fallen asleep on the sofa last night watching " Only Connect"!! Obviously too much for my feeble brain..... Yesterday afternoon we popped over to visit my Friend and her OH, and worship at the feet of their new, tiny puppy! She is just as cute as can be, and appears to be black with white feet and muzzle, although the breed matures into a 'salt & pepper' coat later. She did not seem to be upset by being uprooted and having a new home, and was very friendly. We did not tell our friends we are considering being dog owners again, ourselves, and are going to surprise them.
  • We seem to be discussing housework on here, again. Everyone I know seems to have a different approach. I do remember my mother being very houseproud indeed, and dusting around frequently. But in later life, she admitted to me that she regretted it, and wished she had given herself more of what we now describe as "me time". I try to be clean, especially in the bathrooms & kitchen, but do not fuss too much about a bit of dust here & there, unless we are entertaining.
  • Good morning from a snowy Inverness. I wonder what it is like down WENDY'S way.

I'm trying to remember where my new hairdresser lives and whether she'll make it in to town for my appointment today. Now, there's selfish for you. I just slapped my own wrist...

AQ I second what others are saying. Please take care of yourself. You are obviously very tired and I'm thinking about you driving home from your daughter's home.

    Back later
