WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, JANUARY 4, 2015

Yikes!  I remember writing 1950 for the first time on a paper at St. Theresa's!!  :-(

Happy New Week.

  • OG so sorry your daughter had a bad journey to work, it must have been awful for people trying to get into work as normal, I do think that she should try to get back before dark.  Hope her house was alright and did'nt suffer any more damage.

  • Take care, RITA. I'm glad I wasn't the only one to be scared.

OH said that he could not recall ever hearing such noisy winds. We have discovered that part of fencing adjoining house on the other side of us is looking precarious.
  • I hope all is well for you tonight, Rita.

  • Good to hear from rita and george. Be so careful if you go have to go out.

  • Well, PHEW! I am so very relieved to see that you all seem to have made it through the ghastly night of weather in the U.K. From what I read, everyone on this thread is now accounted for?

Those hurricane winds must have been utterly frightening. Sheila, thanks for posting the wind speeds.

After I eat breakfast, I'll come back and post replies. But everyone stay safe, warm, and indoors today!

AQ: I hope you're safe in the flooding. Fires to flooding. Dang!

    Take care, all.

  • Rita - sounds sensible, getting some food in so that you don't have to go out in the gales. Glad everyone is OK, though George, you seem to have the most mess!! OG - hope your daughter gets power back soon & that her house is alright.
  • Don't know about DIBNLIB,DIANE, she is probably at work today.

  • Good thoughts for dibnlib, Heather!

  • So pleased to hear from you, George and Rita, and to know you are OK. We still await word from Dibnlib though. We have winds of 50mph still, so I presume you are still getting extremely strong winds up there, and that is before tonights storm arrives.

Thinking of you all. Stay safe. X

  • Hi All I am very tired today after little or no sleep as the wind was so noisy and at times quite scary. Luckily no damage but my local doctor cant get out of his drive until 2 enormous trees are removed. Also the local bus shelter has blown completely out of its footings.

My Tesco shopping arrived only a little late but I was one of the lucky ones as store was closed as part of its roof was cluttering up the car park!!!!

Friend on Black Isle still has no electricity so I expect Rita will be in the same state.

I have been lurking but like a few contributors feeling below par. Convinced 2015 will be a lot better than 2014 as husband has the all clear to resume normal life and will be back to light duties for work on Monday. I gather consultant stated he was clear to "drive the Dyson"! Also he has now stopped taking antibiotics which is good as he been on them for 20 months.

Touch wood Daisy's health is also good at the moment with no more episodes.

Busy planning a couple of holidays and visits from girlies so upwards and onwards.
