Yikes! I remember writing 1950 for the first time on a paper at St. Theresa's!! :-(
Happy New Week.
Just had a quick look in, OG, I'm sorry that things further north are so bad. Back later, must go shopping :-(
Fence panels still lying on the drive, OH will go and see our new neighbour (Sheanas former house) as it is a shared fence. We don't know her so he is going to get our house deeds out and double check about that.
Pleased to read that you are both fine, OG and Heather. It must have been very frightening. I hope your daughter's power will be restored asap, OG. I also hope Rita will be ok.
Pleased to see posts from Heather and OG. So hope that OG's daughter's house currently being repaired has not suffered damage. Take care as it seems more high winds on the way. Fingers crossed for rita and hope we hear from her as soon as possible. News coverage shows how severe this storm is, I would be absolutely terrified if I had to experience this.

I have the TV news on permanently, watching the siege in France. There has been another shooting in Eastern France now, unconfirmed reports of a hostage being taken and one person wounded, at a kosher supermarket.
Brenda me too. A very dangerous situation developing again, I fear that even more lives will be lost. OH talked about this last night and we are both worried that this could happen in the UKnat any time.
Here in Fife we had a very windy night with thunder and lightning and a deluge of hailstones that made everything white. It was also the night that we had to put out our green bins which hold the tins and plastic and they all got blown over so I had more rubbish in my front garden than was in the bin to begin with. The council have had people going round picking up the rubbish that was in the street from the bins. Will have to baton down the hatches before the next onslaught tomorrow.

Hello everyone, and a belated Happy New Year to you all.
Such terrible news about the killings in France. It appears that the person who killed the policewoman y'day is one of a pair holding hostages in the kosher supermarket, including a white female. Just awful.
George, oh dear, I hope you take care when taking Diesel out for his constitutional. I have friends who live on the other side of the A9 to you and they were woken in the night by bonks and bangs. One tree fell against the bungalow, another was leaning on their telephone wires, and a lot of broken branches were strewn around their (rather large) garden. Not at all pleasant for you all.

Hello All - Have survived the terrible gales last night and am feeling very relieved. The lights flickered all night but I did'nt lose my power thankfully. I live down in a dip here and so did not get the full force of the winds. However I could not sleep so sat reading in bed for most of the night, as Heather has said, the noise was quite scary,I looked out of the window at 3.00am and the wind was making a roaring noise, quite frightening, especially as I have really tall silver birches in my garden quite close to the house. The lawn is littered with bits and branches this morning. I feel very lucky to have escaped so easily. All my windows are absolutely filthy , I do not know what was in that wind! I believe strong gales are back again tonight with perhaps snow as well!! I will not be driving any further than just up to the village, as I did lots of food shopping yesterday.
Hope all are keeping safe and well.
Good to hear from you George, I have a mental picture of the rubbish in your front garden:-( Yes, more to come but they say not as bad. Fingers crossed. But when I hear about extreme weather that DIANE gets, perhaps we aren't so badly off?
LINDY - Heaven forfend that we would be cut off from the world ha ha. I quite agree. Last night my essential night time listening Radio 4/World Service went dead at about 3am. My first action was to check my kindle and see if internet was on. Sad person, aren't I?
BRENDA/MARGO, We have also had the same conversation and anxiously watching events in France. Also, after what the Head of MI5 said last night, we cannot be complacent, even in so called quiet areas. My OH is fond of quoting Churchill 'the soft underbelly of Europe' etc.
