Happy new week and happy solstice!

Last week's Chat Thread is here.

For most of us, today is the Winter Solstice. Welcome back to the Sun! With the return of the light, I'd like to wish all of my dear friends on this thread a happy holiday season and a new year blessed with joy, abundance, good health, serenity, and love!

The solstice occurs on 21 December at:

2303 GMT
11:03 p.m. in the U.K.
6:03 p.m. in the eastern U.S.
3:03 p.m. in California

And for AQ: Happy Summer Solstice on 22 December at 9:33 a.m.

This solstice is special because it happens within 2 and a half hours of the New Moon. I'm seeing this cosmic event as a fresh start and a new beginning. Woo hoo!

The photo is of the Sun in the midst of a powerful and spreading coronal mass ejection. The photo was taken by the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, a partnership of the European Space Agency and NASA.

  • Yes, Limpy!  - we're having a good time!!! And have eaten far too much, as usual!!  Thanks for the beautiful card.

  • Happy Christmas to one and all...

Super walk along the Spey with Daisy..

Sunny frosty and minus 4 so much better than yesterday's rain.

  • We've had on & off drizzle, and this morning whilst I was dressing, we had a big flash of lightening, and a loud crack of thunder!! Managed a walk and saw several new bicycles, plus a scooter!! Now eating chocs and not fancying our light salad for tea.....
  • Hi LINDY

We have just finished dinner 'a deux' and watching Andre Rieu concert on TV.

A different Christmas Day for us but so cosy!!

  • Heather same here but a lovely day all the same..

Yorkshires rising as I type... Him beef myself everything else with added home made bread sauce:-)

  • Hope you re all enjoying the day. Really enjoyed a very special day together. OH saying he was just so happy we were able to share it together. Have a lovely evening all.

  • Heather - sorry I didn't reply earlier - I went off again. Nice to read that a lot of us are enjoying our quiet day!!! Margo - so glad that you & your OH have had a special day. A day to treasure. We have not seen our sons today, but spoke to them on the phone and our conversations will remain in my memory for ever. The best present which comes not wrapped in glossy paper, but in words!!
  • The crust crumbled with a look, the filling didn’t set as it should, but the taste was great and, I’m sorry Diane, this pic is all that’s left of the choc cream pie.

  • Furniture & most plates & bowls restored to usual places this morn. Fridge & OH groaning at the leftovers. I am rejoicing as I don’t need to cook for a while. Salad rolls for lunch, followed by assorted sweet/choc nibbles! Healthy balanced diet, yeay. Yesterday L & J behaved remarkably well. Miss18 was displaying her nanny skills and relieved twins’ Mum & Dad most of the day, allowing them to eat their Xmas lunch. L & J finally fell asleep, one in each bedroom, and last one didn’t wake until after 6 pm, so it was a long day. Grandson helped taking veggie & meat dishes into dining room and later helped serve the desserts. I wasn’t sure if he would refuse being at a difficult (teen) age but he was willing & cheery about helping. Eldest s-i-l manned the kitchen sink clearing the glasses & plates & cutlery but I didn’t tell him about the pots & pans & cooking dishes lurking in the laundry trough – we finished them this morn.

    Miss3 busy unwrapping her loot.

L has inherited my OH's “don’t take my photo” gene.

J enjoyed the wrapping paper, whereas it scared L.
