WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey topics) SUNDAY NOVEMBER 9, 2014

Hey everyone.

LINDYBIRD has posted some pix of Matthew of the masses of black hair on the last page of last week's thread.   What makes me think we'll be seeing more soon?  :-)

DIBNLIB: Glad you had a nice walk with "new" companions.

Had nice light brunch with friends; then to the gym. Now home to throw some chicken and asparagus in the pans!  Hope all are well.

Rich text format option seems to have gone AWOL

  • I have to start serious packing for our hols - usually I begin by throwing a few clothes into the spare bedroom a good two weeks beforehand, but its been too hectic lately, so I will have to spend some time rummaging. Also, have to try on my shorts in case they don't fit!! Also, my OH has a clinic appointment this afternoon as he's had a sore ear (the outside part) and we need a diagnosis - we've been told its nothing scary but don't know what treatment he can get.
  • Good Morning Everyone. Not much happening here. We need to collect more leaves before the heavy rain and winds arrive later today. A rather grey sky at the moment.

AQ, If these are your Spring temperatures, I hate to think how hot your summer is going to be. I do hope it will be cooler for your trip to Barossa. I recognise Barossa Valley as a major wine producing region. Will you be doing any wine tasting :-))

Linda, Your poor OH. I hope the clinic can help with his ear problem. I have received your e-mail, thank you. I did laugh at your "hot flushes" comment last night.

  • Brenda:    I spent about half an hour trying to get the darned email to work this morning:  I thought that you would either get 15 identical emails, or none at all!!!    I spoke to our Eldest the other day and we are going to try & get me a new tower for my pc as he thinks it could be months & months before they bring out the new version, so we can't wait that long as I am having a lot of problems with this, now.

I also tried to use the Personal Message service on here, which I must say is pretty rubbish now, as its been very difficult to use and to read, since the changes, but today it would not let me send one at all.   G R U M P!!    I am not exactly pleased with techie things at the moment, as you might gather!!

I also wrapped a present for my Friend as its her birthday soon:  lovely tissue and pretty paper around it, then a ribbon, but the sticky thingys I had bought to look better than a bit of Selloptape seem to have lost their stick!!  I expect I've kept them for too long.  Never mind, I am off to try on some of my clothes for my hols and hope I don't look too much of a fright in them.  We always dress up for dinner when staying in a hotel, it makes it feel special, and I have some old favourites which I trot out every time.  Some of them seem to have shrunk......  can't think how LOL!!

  • Margo:   I hope that today the chemo goes alright again.  Its so good that you are not having such a bad time with it now.  Also that Billie is recovering from her bad "do".  They do worry you, pets.  Here is a funny picture to cheer everyone up:

       -   -   Don't know how many there are, there!!!

  • Morning all:  Just watching the replay of this morning's press conference re the Philae lander. What a relief they were able to make contact with it this morning. Fascinating details emerging about the landing/bouncing and - OMG - those photos are amazing, especially the shot of the lander balanced, apparently more than a little precariously, on the rocks. Can't wait to see additional pix and composites.  Soooo exciting.

Zoomed off to daughter's after confirmation of landing yesterday; we had a good day: breakfast out (much faster service than the weekend), then off to Santa Maria to putter.

Lindybird: Oh my, all those puppies and that lovely green lawn.... When are you leaving and for how long?

AQ: Eeek. Still too warm I see.

    Must off to Do Stuff!

  • Cleared most of the leaves, except the ones on the grass, as it is far too wet. Light rain started around 2pm, so I have now caught up with the ironing. There will probably be twice as many leaves tomorrow, after tonights and tomorrows wind and rain !!

Linda, I am sure your dresses and shorts will still fit. You just have to decide, which ones to pack and then you have to start on the shoes :-)))  Love the wheelbarrow pups. I have tried to count them and my guess is 13.
You will probably have to follow your son's advice about your computer. You are obviously having problems.

  • Annette, Still waiting to see what they decide about Philae. They are talking about making it bounce again, but it may not come back down again. Terrible decision for them to have to make.

  • BRENDA: Yes, I saw that question from someone in the audience about making it bounce again - wouldn't want to be the one to okay that!  I'm having a heck of a time figuring out when they're holding live broadcasts - the ESA site isn't clearn and almost seems to list them backwards - or maybe I've just got late-developing dyslexia!

  • We had a surprisingly good outcome to the clinic appointment - my OH was in & out in ten minutes, after being told that he has a sort of nodule which as its becoming painful, can easily be removed. But the funny part was when we first arrived - bear in mind that we had travelled about 13 miles to reach it. As the previous couple left the consultants office, we all gasped: they were friends of ours who lived only two doors away from us for many years!!! (He had a small lump on his nose) We all compared notes & decided that as we are all getting older, we are falling apart ;-)
  • Annette - we are going early on Monday, for a week of lazing around. Must go & charge up my Kindle! The comet landing has been very exciting. It will be a bit sad if having got this far, they can't get all the information they were seeking.
