Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey Topics), 19 October 2014

Welcome to the new week! I hope everyone has a great one!
  • Meant to say, so very pleased that you made it to the ballet, Margo!! Which one was it??? My Friend adores the ballet & used to go when she lived in London.
  • The sun is shinning here at the moment but it will wait till Diesel and I are out for our afternoon walk then when we are at the furthest away point in our walk it will start raining again. The wind here is very strong and all the leaves are gettin blown off the trees and you can't really pick them up as they are very wet.

Hope everyone manages to keep dry and warm or cool depending on which country you are in.

Did anybody else here the story of the family who when they buried their mother they put her mobile phone in the coffin and they used to phone her and tell her what the family were doing and then a few years later they got a phone call from their mother's phone saying that she hopped the family were well. The phone company had given the number of the phone in the coffin to somebody else

  • George : I saw that story about the mobile phone. I did not realize they re cycled the numbers so quickly. Glad you are enjoying your walk with Diesel. Very mild and windy here. Beautiful day for the time of year.

Lindybird we saw  Coppélia which is a happy ballet, one of my favourites.

  • The sun is shining here, too, after another night and morning of rain. It was pouring down when we went to church. There is a gusty wind and the leaves are swirling.

Our daughter missed her connecting plane from  Chicago to Detroit, as it took two and a half hours to get through the security checks and collect her luggage. I last spoke to her at midnight ( our time ) when she had just managed to get a flight with a different airline, but she had a 3 hour wait. Don't think she will be feeling great this morning.

Thanks Diane for starting the week. I saw the news article about the comet. Waiting, with bated breadth, for the landing on a comet, next month.
I had lost track of when Annette was due home, so thanks for the reminder. I guess she will be tired though.

Dibnlib, Glad the rain stopped and you enjoyed your walk with Dillon, but how sad to meet the lady who had lost her husband. Enjoy your lunch and your second walk.

Margo, Pleased you went to the ballet, although I did feel rather certain that you would, after our phone call. That is such an achievement to do that, during a chemo week :)))

Linda, I am guessing that you will have a nap, when you try to catch up with your reading. You timed your walk well, when it wasn't raining.

George, Maybe inappropriate, but I did laugh about the phone in the coffin.
We want to rake the leaves off the grass, but I think we will damage the grass. Both the grass and the leaves are too wet. Today the leaves on the patio are being swirled around so much, that we would be fighting a losing battle trying to capture them. LOL
I hope the rain stays away for your walk with Diesel.

  • Linda, I would guess that the pigeon was trying to get away from your sparrowhawk, hence the window markings. If it was, it will definitely have been a female sparrowhawk. Pigeons are too big for the males. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that you have a pair. I think they are a lovely bird to see, but I don't like to see a killing in our garden.

  • BRENDA   what a dreadful journey for your daughter.

For anyone who eats at The Diary (I know OG does when she comes up) The present management will not be having their lease renewed at the end of the month.  The ice cream people are extending their business and another business are coming in sometime November. We will miss the carvery lunches we have enjoyed over the last 5 years.

LOL!!!!!  I imagine the family got quite a surprise, to say the least!

Sorry, I have a very inappropriate sense of humour at times.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Hello All - Margo, So glad that you managed to get to the ballet and enjoyed it so much.  I really love Ballet and always try to go when it comes to Inverness.

Clare - How wonderful to see two Kestrels, I would be thrilled to see one!

Diane - Thanks for starting off the week, nice to hear from you.

George - Sorry that you have had a sad time lately.  What an amazing story about the mobile phone in the coffin!

Brenda - Sorry your daughter had such a difficult journey, hope she is rested now.

Dibnlib - sorry to hear that the people running the Dairy are going, I eat there quite often.  Is it another Restaurant that is taking over?

I would like to go out this week and photograph some of the lovely autumn colours around before the leaves come off the trees.  Strange weather today, raining first thing , then a lovely sunny morning but back to rain and wind now.  I am still not feeling back to normal yet so have been sitting down sorting out all my photos on the computer, something that I have needed to do for ages.    I have also made a few pots of Lemon and Lime marmalade, made with lemons from my own tree. It tastes delicious, but then I am a marmalade addict!

Enjoy the rest of the day everyone, I am looking forward to 'Downton Abbey' tonight.

  • RITA   As far as I know Black Isle Dairies will have some tables up as far as the conservatory and will be serving sundaes and waffles etc.  Another cafe will be going into the conservatory b.ut no idea what they will be serving. Charlotte and Jeremy hope to start again in the area but nothing definate yet
