Weekly Chat (non-osprey), Sunday 12th October 2014

Good morning, all!  Welcome to the new day and the new week.  I hope it goes positively for you all.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Good Morning. ALL. We haven't had any water all morning. They are connecting water to a nearby barn, which is being converted for accommodation, but when I rang S Water, I was greeted by a recorded message, which said there had been an incident. I presume that means, somebody drilled through the main water pipe ! I had to boil a kettle, with some of our bottled water, so that we could have a quick wash. Thank goodness, I did have a shower before going to bed :-))

  • Oh, Brenda! - that is so annoying, not to mention inconvenient. No warning either of course. Do hope that by this afternoon you're "back on".
  • Chrisy - That sounds like a good film, we intend to go & see it. Thanks for letting us know what you thought of it.
  • OG - I love bread sauce, its one of the highlights of Chr. dinner for me. In her later years, my mother used to be told that she would be invited for Christmas dinner, as long as she brought her home made bread sauce!! It was delish.
  • AQ - Your trip sounds great, but sorry you had to plod around!! As usual, the food is always good sounding! Will go back & see your pics later.
  • Hello ALL

AQ Looking forward to seeing your pics! Your plodding descriptions were amusing but I can appreciate that it may not have been total fun!

As you might expect I am between visitors and have been feeding the washing machine. Also have been shopping to ensure that I have the right stuff for Callum's packed lunch and Amy's high protein snacks. Even as a trained nurse I feel a little nervous being in charge of Amy and her diabetic regime. Things have changed so much. Later this year she will get an insulin pump.

OG - As usual, I am in awe of your meal planning! Red meat is something that my OH loves because he grew up on a farm but we don't have it every day. Monday was the last time, cold ham. Tomorrow, we will have lasagne because Callum and Amy have requested it. After that, who knows! What I do know is that we have loads of pears to use. We have given a lot away, my eldest daughter made a very successful pear and blackberry Eve's pudding. Now I am under some pressure from OH to do the same----

Are we expecting ANNETTE back soon?

  • Busy day going out and coming in, as expected - but all okay.  Catch-Up tomorrow when OH is at Museum!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Our water came back on around midday. It was a burst water main, which affected quite a large area. I understand it is only a temporary repair :-((

Otherwise, we went shopping and had lunch out. For some reason, I feel tired tonight, so off to have a shower and will 'see' you tomorrow.

  • Did laugh yesterday at Brenda's roll call expression! Judging by Annette's summary of her trip - she may well not be home much before the weekend (see page 5 of Weekly Chat 21st Sept)

Hope Brenda gets prior warning when the temp water main repair is permanently repaired.

Autumn colours seem to be moving on a pace - sometimes almost winter feeling and have been surprised to so far not have had a dusting of snow on the Ben.
