Weekly Chat (non-osprey), Sunday 12th October 2014

Good morning, all!  Welcome to the new day and the new week.  I hope it goes positively for you all.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Good Morning Everyone. The heavy rain returned yesterday evening and overnight, so everywhere is very wet again this morning, although the sun is glimmering through the trees at the moment.

AQ, Sorry that you have been feeling so bad and you were unable to really enjoy your day out. Continuing with your holiday, you do seem to challenge yourself to see as much as you possibly can each day. I have yet to look at your latest photographs.

Limpy, thanks for the Blog alert.

Lovely to hear from you Liz. Although we have plenty of falling leaves, Autumn hasn't really taken off yet, here. Most of the trees still look very green. The pity is that with all the rain, together with the fallen leaves, everywhere looks quite dirty and muddy.

  • Hello Everyone - Dull, wet day here at the moment and I do not think it is set to improve.   Still feeling rotten, coughing all the time and feeling very tired , such a nuisance as there are so many things that I want to get on with. Did hope to get my hair cut this week but cannot take this cough into the Hairdressers!    It is really beginning to look like Autumn here now, I suppose it is time to clear away the summer pots of Geraniums, Fuschias, etc, it always looks a bit bare afterwards.

  • Hi Rita, Sorry you are still feeling rotten. From what I have read from folk on here, the cough and tiredness, seems to linger.

I haven't cleared my potted geraniums, etc yet, as they are still flowering and look fine. It is a job I hate doing, because, as you say, everything looks so bare afterwards. I will enjoy the colour a little longer :-))

  • Good Morning, and hello! Hi Rita, sorry you're suffering. Hopefully you're over the worst. Sun is coming out here, now, after a damp start. Brenda, can't believe how much rain you've been having!! Off to lunch with Friend so must dash. ......
  • Have had a bit of a difficult day. My Friend has just come out of hospital after 2 days of examinations & procedures. She looked tired and I don't think she should really have been out & about so soon. We ate a nice plate of Welsh Rarebit each, with salad, me with one eye on her the whole while in case she fainted. When we returned home, we found my OH who had had to come home early from the golf course as he felt unwell. We all had a cup of tea & a chat before I sent my Friend on her way. Meanwhile, my OH had a visitor who had heard he was unwell. We also had a knock on the door from the owner of the house which is being renovated, and he had brought us a bottle of wine by way of apology as the noise has been particularly bad lately. After a sit down I got on with batch cooking a huge vat of spagh bol as I had bought all the ingredients ready. We've eaten a plateful now, and I'm doing nothing else today!! I'd already been shopping in the morning and done cleaning & laundry, so I think I deserve a sherry now!! - sorry this has been a bit of a saga....
  • I have no idea why you are apologising, Linda. You have had rather a tense and traumatic day and I would say you are still worrying. Sorry your OH felt unwell. You are probably correct that your friend shouldn't have been out at all, today. Trust folk to arrive, just when you would rather that they hadn't, even though they weren't to know. I hope  both yourself and your husband have a good nights sleep.

Guess what, we have yet another weather warning for tonight. Heavy rain and thunderstorms.

  • LINDY- What a day, enjoy your sherry xx I hope that your OH feels better tomorrow. You have been such a good friend to your friend and loads of family things going on as well. Take care.

  • Lindybird - I am sorry to read that you have had such worrying day, it does sound as though your friend was out too soon.  I hope your OH is feeling better now and that you are both resting and taking it easy.

  • Hello all, not been on for a couple of days.

AQ - hope you will soon be feeling better, glad you managed your trip allbeit sitting most of the trip.

Read all your news, sorry to hear about your friend Lindybird.Sorry to hear about your neighbours, its such a shame when that sort of thing happens.

Problems with the kitchen tap and connections - leaking. Had our friendly builder round at the end of last week and he said he would send someone round to fix it - changing to copper piping instead of the plastic/metal they use which seems to spring leaks.  He said he had managed to stop it when he came but later on that day the leak was back and it has just been a steady drip so soaking the cupboard.  I have bowls down and towels but somehow it they get sopping wet and I have to keep ringing them out. Bit fed up now as tried to contact him today but not had a reply.  Must try again tomorrow. Eventually will get it fixed but frustrating at present.  Enough ranting.

Went to the gym Tues and today and had two good swims - at least I'm getting some exercise!!!

Margo - do hope all is going OK with chemo and thinking of you.

Also anyone else who is under the weather, hope you feel better soon.

  • Feel better now I've had a sherry - have got all the spagh.bol in the freezer, too. (12 portions! - it was a big cooking pot!) My O H insisted on going out, but took the car instead of walking. He has just returned with some upsetting news about a relative which I can't repeat on here. We are off to bed, hoping tomorrow will be better!
