Good morning, all! Welcome to the new day and the new week. I hope it goes positively for you all.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Hi, there. A busy but fruitful day for us. Went to (small) craft fair this morning, held at Devil’s Porridge Museum; J and I each bought one gift item for Christmas. Had some wonderful soup there – Tomato and Celery. Then to Chiropodist. Had a phone call that bed engineer was on his way; jobs done, both beds now in full working order. However, his visit affected dinner time, so we haven’t gone to our Gardening Group this evening – maybe a good thing after a tiring day. J has gone to his church “small group”, and OH is busy restoring bedding and putting emergency items back in the loft.
Rita – good to see you were beginning to feel better, and I hope the improvement has progressed.
Heather – I think one of my problems with leftovers is that we only eat five meals including red meat in any week, so repeats would be difficult, and certainly at present the freezer is so full of veg!
Brenda – well done with Monday’s Bowls! Pleased your Daughter’s housing plans are moving forward.
Linda – I thought today was not going to be so bright here, but we had only about 30% cloud cover all day, so more pleasant sunshine. We still have Potatoes in the ground, and last Tomatoes ripening on the greenhouse bench. What a year! As well as the Cranberry, I like Bread Sauce with Turkey! I don’t know whether there has been any technical hitch on the site, haven’t been here to see! How nice to have the conservatory cleaned and back to normal all in one day.
Another busy (by my reckoning) day tomorrow: haircuts before lunch, and an appointment at the bank in the afternoon – have to discuss reinvestment of matured fixed-term ISA, so choose between two ridiculously small interest rates, again!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Rather late in the day for me to say Hi. We have been catching up on HW, washing and ironing. Nothing Exciting :-((
Not really surprised that nobody has posted today, Linda. You have been busy, Heather has family visiting, OG is out this evening, Rita is probably still feeling bad, Annette, still away (?), AQ, still ill (?), Margo, mid treatment, Diane, hopefully busy on a project, Dibnlib, Possibly too busy. Lynette. never posts until later. Sorry to those I may have missed.
I see OG has crossed with my post and answered the roll call LOL
Hi, Had my flu jab today, I get it done every year, being asthmatic. It is a bit tender now but better than getting the flu!
This afternoon I went with a friend to the cinema -first time for many years (I do the hired dvds thing)! We saw 'What we did on our Holidays' with David Tennant, - whom I rather like anyway! – and Billy Connolly, Ben Miller and Celia Imrie and three children who were very good actors. It was mainly amusing, and also rather sad in places, and we both enjoyed it a lot.
Edit - Oh yes, it is set in Scotland ! Lovely scenery.
Linda, That is another job off your list of jobs to do. I guess you feel quite pleased when you look at the conservatory, this evening.
OG, Well done on starting your Christmas presents. It must be good to see your beds and bedroom back to normal. It remained very cloudy here, all day but at least it was dry.
Chrisy, Good that you enjoyed the film. I had read that it is based on the BBC comedy, Outnumbered, in which the children were allowed to say what they wanted. Only the adults had scripts.
I had not heard that, Brenda, but it did occur to me there were some similarities, especially with the youngest girl, though the eldest is also a girl,in this.
Between the chest infection and my wheezing due to hay fever, I have been feeling yuk. I managed the bus trip on Sunday but spent most of the time sitting as I was too breathless to walk anywhere. Each day I feel a bit better. I’ll post a few scenes of springtime Adelaide Hills later.
WA trip saga cont. Sunday morning it felt like our holiday was beginning as we left Perth & boarded our coach, heading north, stopping in Bindoon at a marvellous very busy bakery for morning coffee & cake. Then the rain started. By the time we arrived at New Norcia it was teeming with rain. Previous day was 34 C, now we were cold! New Norcia was & is a Benedictine monastery. The former girls & boys boarding schools are now accommodation for groups & visitors. The former hostel for students’ parents is the hotel. The museum & art gallery was worth seeing. Then I ignored the rain to wander the site with camera, before dripping into hotel for a soup & roll lunch.
After lunch we turned southwards. In Toodyay I was snooping around the church when I was invited in to their healing service. Alas, too little time – it was only a coffee stop. We arrived in York about 5 pm and I raced off with camera to capture the glorious old buildings. The Catholic church was open, a lovely building, with a lovely priest who explained the history. Around the block to the Masonic hall, town hall, plod, plod, on to the Uniting church, plod plod plod back to main street, met our guide who said the Anglican was not far “just across the bridge”. Yes, not far, just a swaying footbridge, then a muddy slope to climb. Getting dark, few photos were successful, carefully down slope to footbridge, plod plod plod plod back to main street, plod plod plod to hotel, arriving 5 mins before dinner. I slept well that night. My pics posted on flickr over next few days.
