Happy new week
Good Morning, Just had one of those short sharp showers, which has started one of our gutters cascading the rainwater to the side of our bedroom. We have booked a man to clean the gutters this afternoon but as the wind is to get stronger, I am not sure that I will be happy to see him climb up to the roof. Rather annoying having to get the gutters cleared so early in the Autumn, as they will need doing again when the leaves have finished falling.
Lynette, They are lovely holiday photographs, especially the jagged rocks off Hartland Quay.
AQ, You will have to go back to photograph the finished project in Perth. I am sure their will be a dramatic change. I will go and look at your flickr pics.
I forgot to say that our son and his wife, finally exchanged contracts on their house, Monday of last week, and completed last Friday. There was a mad panic, booking removal people etc. This was after waiting for a chain to complete for nearly six months !!
I notice that there are 18 flood warnings in Scotland. I hope they are not causing any problems for Heather or Dibnlib.
Hello all
BRENDA - there were several roads closed/affected by weather and disruption to trains. I'm not sure what is happening today away from here but yesterday afternoon was lovely and today very mild and no rain here. However I heard on radio today that D and G may get bad weather.
S is not all that well. I saw her on Tuesday and she had great difficulty remembering what we had just discussed and kept asking me the same questions. The worst I have ever seen her.
Thanks Heather. When I saw the various named rivers and places, I knew that you could possibly be having problems. We haven't heard from OG today. I hope they are ok.
Sorry about S. I would expect you to be able to judge, both professionally and as her friend, how she is really. Not a pleasant visit for you.
Just had a call from middle daughter. She left the freezer door ajar last night and has thrown all the food away even though some items were only half defrosted. More money than sense, obviously. I told her that she could have made dishes with things like half defrosted meat etc. She was afraid that she would poison her children--- I told her that if she had phoned me first she would not have lost so much!! Good gracious, when I was a child we had a 'meat safe' fixed to an outside wall for the days when the butchers shop was closed. Nothing happened to us, in truth I don't remember any tummy upsets such as seem to happen these days.END OF RANT.
New LG blog. Breagha and Millicent are fine. The weather is "dreich, with buckets full of rain."
Heather. I will stay calm :-)) I guess her home insurance won't cover the freezer contents, if it was her own fault, by leaving the freezer open ? I must check our insurance. I know we are covered if the freezer breaks down or dies, but even then, it may not be worth claiming, if consequently the annual premiums rise and she loses her 'no claims bonus'.
Good afternoon, all. Just had a call from Doc’s with minor op clinic appointment for next Friday. Also a call from J who is on his way home in a Renault Clio which he could be using for a whole week – we expected two days! End of term tomorrow, so hoping he can fully recover from viruses during his two week break.
Lynette – thanks for sharing the photos from Bude. Cornwall and I don’t get on (except for a trip to Eden), but other people’s pictures from there look good.
AQ – lovely flower photos, but I haven’t yet had time to look for the stained glass window album! That Park sounds lovely, and the new development in Perth exciting.
Linda – I hadn’t realised you had been visiting Wales for so long, I assumed it was a new venture when you bought the static caravan!
Brenda – I hope the gutter-clearing man succeeded without mishap; a downside of having those lovely trees around you! Pleased to read that your Son has completed on the house. We are okay, weather-wise; no worries. There has been rain, but less than forecast: not so heavy and more spread out; we have also had it quite bright at times.
Heather – I think the river flooded in Dumfries on Tuesday – that is normal – but the smaller rivers around seemed to just stay within their banks, full to the brim. Pleased you have also had some good weather, as well as the wet stuff. Sorry about S; sounds as if she probably has an infection, and I would guess at UTI since that’s what most sedentary elder folk seem to get! How silly of your Daughter to waste all that food! Everything would have been fine for 24 hours, and I am sure you would have chipped in and helped make meat into stews etc so it could be refrozen!
We are still awaiting the van supposedly containing OH’s repaired chair – but an evening delivery would not be out of the question from these people!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
PS J arrived safely!
We are still waiting for the gutter- clearing man. Last message said that he has been delayed.
Still very windy but after the morning showers, it has been a dry afternoon, with some sun.
