Happy new week
Evening all: Very busy two days here, compounded by 90F temps. Ugh. Cooling trend starts tomorrow. Had lovely two days with family with only a couple of bumpy moments! :-) Ms. D as delightful as ever and still sweet and shy but lively too.
Heather: Glad the haircut turned out okay. My OH looked at me in surprise the next day and said: Did you get your hair cut? This after I'd told him where I was going, which only confirms that he never listens to me. Definitely support a shopping trip to Glasgow with option of overnight stay if necessary! Tell your OH what he can do with the bus passes! :-)
Brenda: Was in Canterbury eons ago and loved it.
Wendy: Great to read that Daisy isn't as sick as feared. :-)
Margo: Hope you got to the show and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Hallo to everyone else. I'm really wiped out, mostly from this ridiculous heat. Granddaughter and Ms. D will be heading home Monday morning and staying Sunday night here. I'll be up at 4:45 a.m. Monday so OH can take me to the shuttle for LAX; I'm taking a morning flight coz you lose three hours flying to NY and I'd like to arrive at the hotel at a reasonable time so I can sort things out before sister arrives from London on Tuesday. Not sure when Gdd is planning to leave, but I won't be cooking any breakfasts for anyone at that time! Will try to look in tomorrow. Not sure if I'll have any internet access while away....
Take care all.
Have a wonderful, spectacular time on your trip, Annette!!! Safe journey to you.
Hi to everyone!
I hope you have a fantastic time in New York, Annette - and do keep an eye out for a magnificent red-tailed hawk.
Good morning, all!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Hi everyone. Rather a shock how cold it was this morning. Definitely needed the CH. We got in the car to go church, at 8.30am, and when I put the wiper on to clear the back window, I found it was ice, not just moisture. Lovely and sunny though.
Our day in Canterbury was lovely. We visited all the main sites, Cathedral etc. in spite of the torrential rain, and thoroughly enjoyed the play.
We said "Hello" to the university for you, OG & EE. I don't think you would find that much has changed except for some of the roads and the amount of traffic. We were in very slow moving traffic trying to get across to the car park. The shop area is all pedestrianised, like all city centres now.
Annette, Thanks for starting the week again. You are going to notice the temperature change in NY, but it will be great for you to see your sister.
Heather, Pleased that the new hairdresser met your approval. I see that I am not the only one, who thinks that you should go to Glasgow, but I do think it is rather a long way for a day trip on a coach. Not sure how long that would take. Anyhow I am sure you have looked at the timetable and will discuss it with your OH. I am sure you know how to explain, how long you are going to need to shop and eat. LOL
Wendy, Pleased to hear about Daisy, but, ever the optimist, I was hoping that they would find something that they could cure :-))
Hi Diane. I hope you have been able to sort out your problems with RF on this site.
Hi Everyone -- dull cold day today, I think the summer has finally left us. I have'nt been on here for a little while but have kept up with reading all the news. First of all before I am too late - Annette glad you had a nice time with family, have a lovely holiday in NY with your sister.
Lynette - hope you have had a nice time in Cornwall
Margo - hope your cold and cough has cleared up now and that you are feeling a little better.
Clare - I really enjoyed all your holiday photos, such an attractive town and interesting things to see.
Lindybird - glad that you are enjoying your new red shoes! Years ago when I was young! there was a craze for red shoes (court shoes as we called them in those days) just before Christmas and my friends and I were all buying them. I was very pleased with mine, It absolutely made my Christmas!
Brenda - nice to hear that you enjoyed your day in Canterbury, I have always wanted to visit the Cathedral there , but it is such a long way from here.
Heather - so pleased that your Hairdresser worked out well, I went to one in Dingwall for about 20 years, then she retired and I decided to try the local Hairdresser in the village here and like her very much better! I think you should spend the night in Glasgow to give yourself enough time for shopping, a bit rushed otherwise.
OG I am a bit late with saying this but I hope you are fully recovered from your 'flu, I know it does take time.
Wendy - I am so pleased that you did not have any really bad news about Daisy, they will be able to treat her epilepsy satisfactorily. You must be relieved, it is awful worrying about a pet. Glasgow Vet School is wonderful ( I would say that as both my sons and my daughter-in-law trained there ), and I had a dog that had two quite serious operations there. My youngest son has a lovely cat called Walter and he has just had to give him a little operation to remove a piece of grass from his nose, picture below:- look at the length of the piece of grass! the things these pets get up to!! I hope I have'nt made anybody feel squeamish!
No, Rita, I don't feel squeamish. It is wonderful that you have two son's who have become vets ( and a Daughter-in-Law) and your youngest was able to operate on his own cat. That was quite a long piece of grass. Poor Walter.Red shoes for Christmas sounds very appropriate. I can't remember if I have ever had red shoes, but I do remember, when I was a young child, getting my first shiny black, patent leather shoes.
Yes,RITA and BRENDA! Black patent shoes with a silver buckle across the top front. That must age me somewhat.
When I was about eight years old I remember I was longing for a pair of silver shoes. At parties several of my friends had them and I thought I would never have any. However, at Christmas my wish came true. I was so pleased with them! Somewhere I have a photo of myself on Christmas Day wearing them standing beside Father Christmas.
Daisy has been traumatised by shoes... When she was living with youngest she was taken to Christmas fancy dress party dressed as a Princess. Tutu dress tiara and 4 silver shoes;-)))
