RITA, I hope your symptoms ease and don't turn into anything nasty and that you get a better night.

Grrr...   just had to sign in again.  Wrote the above on my tablet but have come on here to put a pic on.

Sorry you seem to be coming down with something, Rita.  Hope its not that, and you feel better tomorrow.  I was shocked to hear about Richard Thaxton, too.  Ive never met him, never having been to LG, but it does seem that he has become part of the place.

Here is a picture of my grandson, with his rather pregnant Mum (baby is due in the next two weeks!!)

Thanks OG. I am surprised to read that Richard Thaxton is retiring. He always seemed to have such long term plans for Abernethy. Maybe he is now going to lead even more bird trips abroad. I hope he will be happy in whatever he has chosen to do in the future.    

My Oh has spent quite some time on the phone checking on house and contents insurance as our present insurance had really upped the premium. We have now settled on a new company, which offers more and costs less.

Rita, Sorry you feel so bad. I hope your early night to bed, helps.

Linda, Glad to read that you are feeling a little better. Lovely photograph of your grandson and Mum. The pup is so cute.

OG, I guess you must have a little more energy today, if you have managed to bake a malt loaf. I do love a malt loaf.

Just received a Met Office text warning, that we are to have thunderstorms with heavy rain until 0400. The thunder has been rumbling around for about the last hour. I guess there is worse to come.

Sorry its going to be rough, Brenda.  Hang onto your hat!  No joke when its heavy rain like that, though :-(

By the way, they finished the bricks next door, yesterday. No window overlooking us, hooray! Just a door where the old back door was (at the side of the house, if you know what I mean!). The wall is longer, but that doesn't matter. And its single storey. There is a much bigger full height extension going up on the other side of their house.

Margo Didn't have time for a proper reply to your nice long post. Sorry you had such awful rain and etc. Poor Billie! I laughed at her changing her habits, though. I think maybe you're right about the cat bed as some cats don't like to be too enclosed, they like to feel they can make a quick getaway if they want to. Hope all goes well next week. Exciting to be booked to see Bryan Ferry, that will be great.

That is good news for you, Linda. You must be so relieved. 
Going to retire to bed now and see if I can get some sleep, after I take out aerials and switch off the wi-fi.
