Happy new week

  • Fence men were able to work until 1pm and then the heavy rain arrived again. They are coming back tomorrow morning.

OG, The coffee and toast was served in the garage, where the fence men were trimming the wood. LOL They wanted to carry on working.

That is a long time to wait for EE's chair to be returned. I can well understand him being so annoyed. Hope you have enjoyed your meal out, this evening.

Rita, Surprised that they haven't replaced your skin specialist or that there isn't somebody else you can see. Enjoy your wine :-))

We went to visit ex elderly neighbour, who is now in a private nursing home. She seemed very happy, but I do think it a shame that she has become so inactive. I know she is 87, but she used to go to pilates and line dancing and the only exercise they do in the home, is performed from an arm chair.

  • Had an excellent meal – French Night at Casa Mia, one of their regular theme nights and the first French one although the head chef is from France. A four course menu: Salade de Rillons (little chunks of pork belly served on salad with raspberry dressing), Crepe Saleau (filled with Mushroom, ham and cheese), Coq au Vin (with pancetta and mushrooms, served with potatoes) and finally Traditional Crème Caramel. The first two courses were very special and delicious, the chicken was a bit ordinary (but I was full by then so only ate about one quarter of mine!) and the dessert was just enough to be a pleasant sweet ending to the meal.

J has a date for his car repair, this Thursday, but is uncertain about the courtesy car availability getting him to work on time so may have to change it to one of his two holiday weeks. He also has yet another cold – third one this term.

Rita – that Tortoise shed sounds like real luxury; I hope they have another successful hibernation. Hadn’t heard about Shingles injection – and it wasn’t mentioned in the reminders we received; will ask about that tomorrow when we go. Our skin specialist here has a couple of local GPs working part time seeing some of his list; sorry you have had to wait.

Brenda – a dry, clear evening here, so could easily be a frost in the morning, unless the next weather front reaches us overnight. I think the lack of real exercise in care homes is due to the “blame culture” we now have: if they were to have the older people up on their feet, some would possibly fall and be injured and some families would sue – very sad.

Now bedtime – flu jabs mid-morning and may venture to Bird Club in the evening (“Seabird Decline”) unless I decide I don’t want the same journey as tonight, to Dumfries.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • OG  glad that you enjoyed your French meal, it sounded delicious.

AQ  I have really enjoyed looking at all your photos, all so interesting, and like others, I also liked the Kangaroo sculptures!

  • Back to the humdrum life – food shop this morn. The
freezer’s bare, so I must think about pies, quiche, casseroles & other such
“fast foods”. I’m glad you enjoyed my travel pics. I won’t post the next
episode in the saga just yet as I am still posting pics of Perth. If anyone is
interested in sculptures/street art, try here. The mansions we saw on our drive
were stunning or over-the-top. How to display your wealth when you have too
much! I didn’t take any pics of them, too amazed and anyway some were only
glimpsed through trees & shrubbery. You can get some idea by wandering with
Google Maps down streets of Perth suburbs, Peppermint Grove (try the Esplanade)
or Dalkeith (Victoria Ave). Peppermint Grove is Aussieland’s 5th most expensive
suburb, Dalkeith the 15th, both have views over the Swan River.
    My flickr pics here.

  • AQ - lovely glass in the Anglican Cathedral - especially that modern one!  A shame that the building is dwarfed by those modern blocks.  Enjoy your baking day.

Warmer here this morning - with rain.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • DIBNLIB - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  I hope the flooding and road closures between you and Inverness will not prevent your celebrations!

  • Hi, all. The Slooh Observatory will be showing a live online broadcast of the Total Lunar Eclipse, beginning in about an hour and a half. http://live.slooh.com/

I'm hoping to see it in the sky here if the clouds continue to clear.

    Hello to everyone!

  • Hi Diane. Thanks for the link. I haven't looked at Slooh for a long time. DIBNLIB: Happy Birthday!! Hope you enjoy whatever you do to celebrate your day!! Brighter here today, and the Brickies have turned up to construct the extension next door.
  • Good morning, all.  A very happy birthday to Dibnlib!  I hope you have a good day.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIBNLIB.

Hope you manage to have a lovely day.
