Happy new week
Good morning, Monday – wet, weary, windy, and so dark. Even the birds are still waking up.
Rita – OH says he slept really well on the floor, but we still hope it won’t be necessary for too long. J said it should be him who gave up his bed, especially as it is a double, but we didn’t want to disturb his routine, being a working man, especially this week when they want him for Wednesday as an extra day.
Brenda – certainly looks as if your fence work will have to be postponed again: there are bright periods in the forecast, but well spread between the wet stuff.
Lynette – good to see that you enjoyed Cornwall – looking forward to photos.
AQ – please don’t feel guilty about recent silence – we are just pleased to know all is well now after your sleepy spell. Amazing to think that LM has morphed into Miss3 already! I do hope there are no fire-starters about with that wind and high temps through Labour Day. Lovely photos of the three girls; J & L seem to have swapped previous characters – unless I got them muddled before! How are the older Grandchildren these days?
Not sure what we are doing this morning: don’t want to set off too early to Carlisle as we are promised quieter weather towards lunchtime. Can’t even pass the time preparing dinner, as the “boys” are going for a church Men’s Meal, so I shall just have freezer leftovers!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Good Morning ALL. Quite dark with spots of rain just appearing here. Heavier rain due about 11am.
Sorry you were woken by the wind and rain, Linda. Always better, if you manage to sleep through it
Lynette, Glad you enjoyed yourself in Bude. Not a pleasant time for your friend, having to wait for the diagnosis.
Pleased to see your post AQ. Lovely photographs of the children. Well done to your daughter, making a unicorn cake. I guess it is always best not to comment about grandchildren to their parents. I should imagine that more is now expected of Miss 3, as she is now the oldest, even though she is so young, herself.
I need to go out this morning and then bowls this afternoon. I guess I will get wet at some time.
Glad to hear that EE slept well, OG. Watching the forecast, it looked that the bad weather will have passed through before midday so enjoy your time in Carlisle. Just heard on our local news that their is a tree already blocking the A21 not too far from here,
Sorry, a long delay in posting this. SiL rang !!!
Good morning all and a very wet and windy one. Wind and rain kept us all awake last night. Billie did not settle at all and spent most of the night prowling around, probably trying to find somewhere quiet. It is very dark and gloomy but forecast to clear up later.
I am slowly but surely feeling better but huge disappointment as I did not feel well enough to go to the show last evening. We should be going to the ballet a week next Saturday but that will be in doubt as it is at the end of my week of chemo which has been put forward due to this virus. So frustrating as we try and book shows in the couple of weeks when I feel reasonable.
Following on from Lindybird's red shoes, because I had a very weak ankle my memory is of Clarks brogues which I absolutely hated. The heel had to be floated outwards to encourage my ankle to stay where it should have been. My memory is buying white stilletos with a very ponted toe which obviosly did my feet no good at all and I now count the cost. I spent a lot on them, so much so I had no money left for the rest of the week and Mum was not prepared to give me a sub. Taught me a lesson though about living within your means.
Annette hope you enjoy your visit to NY and spending time with your sister.
Wendy pleased to see that Daisy is relatively OK and that the epilepsy is treatable should it get worse. What a very long day for you. Wonderful you can hear the deer rut, they do make the most amazing sound.
Heather must have been a big relief for you regarding the new hairdresser. I think an overnight stay in Glasgow is the way to go. There would not be nearly enough time on a day trip.
Brenda so pleased you enjoyed the Canterbury trio despite the rain. As you say weather for the week ahead not really suitable for fence work. Enjoy your bowls and I hope you manage to keep dry.
rita nice to see you and Walter is gorgeous. He must have been very uncomfortable with that long bit of grass stuck up his nose, my Billie is always eating grass, as most cats do,but has now and again managed to get a bit stuck in her throat. Fortunately up to now she has managed to cough it up. As you say we never know what our cats get up to when they are outside. I have to watch Billie like a hawk as she insists on eating the suet pellets we out out for the birds. How unusual to have 3 vets in the same family but a very worthwhile profession.
OG hope you will striponger soon, the flu has obviosly left you feeling very weak. Pleased to see that your OH slept well and that J's guitar pedal has been found. What a nuisance it a long way from home. See you are delaying your trip, hope the rain clears up soon.
Lynette glad you enjoyed your break in Bude, you must have been fairly lucky with the weather. A worrying tome no doubt for your friend.
AQ Miss 3 is such a pretty little girl and I love the look of anticipation. Miss J and Miss L have really grown so,quickly. Thanks for sharing the pics.
Lindybird pleased you managed a glass of wine with a meal.
Still lashing down with rain and incredibly windy but hopefully it will improve as they have said.
Have a good day all and take care.
Margo x
Rain stopped, wind dropped, clouds getting quite bright - off we go! Replies tonight.
Nasty day up here which is typical as OH off for the week.
So he has just walked Daisy and I have been in the garage on my bike. No Roe deer as she is probably in the trees trying to keep dry. She won't get involved in the noisey rut as Roe rut backend of June and early July.
When I was at LG my friend and I were woken by a stag in front of the hide bellowing .. an amazing sight:-)
OH still hasn't a date for his op but has an anaesthetist appt tomorrow . I think they are trying to pusuade him into having an edpidural. I gather recover is quicker but he also knows it's a 5 + op so basically that won't be happening.
Trying to get heavy jobs sorted about house and garden as he will be on light duties for 2 or 3 months.
Rita lucky cat having personal service. I am not sure when your boys trained at Glasgow but in the last 4 years they have built an amazing new facility..a place that everyone we met is so proud of.
Hope everyone enjoys their day and this mixed weather.
We've certainly had mixed weather here !! Went to donate blood this afternoon, drove through driving rain to the centre and ran through the car park: an hour later, when I emerged, the sun was so bright I had to discard my coat and put down the sun visor!!
Been too busy to reply to all of the above, sorry: but glad to hear from Margo & Wendy.
I've got a couple of minutes so just came on to put on some cheerful pictures to brighten us up a bit. These are more Welsh ones, we saw a lot of flowers when there last time, including this cheerful display outside a visitor centre:
This is Criccieth, where they are very proud of having won a lot of the "Britain in Bloom" Awards in recent years:
Yes, its a real boat!! They have several dotted around the town, and very nice they look, too.
This is specially for Margo, and all who like cats!
Cute, eh? !!
EDIT: Sent to me, not my photo!!
Lovely, Lindy! Thanks for treating us to something bright on such an awful day. I'm not surprised they have a history of winning the Britain in Bloom awards.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Lindybird that is what I call a real bundle of cute, just gorgeous. Thanks for posting.
