Checked the date twice this time round.
Here's to a pleasant new week all.
Evening all: OH and I got a lot done today, then I went off to the gym, then Costco, then home to BBQ some chicken and veggies. Skyped with granddaughter and Ms. D this morning; it was Gd's "official" birthday (that's our only resemblance to the Royals!) and had sent her flowers and balloons, but will celebrate next week when she's here for daughter's b/day. Her partner bought her a fabulous new camera - hate to think what it cost! - and was taking her and Ms. D out to dinner this evening at a restaurant in Jerome, Arizona. Jerome was a booming copper mining town way back when. Eugene Jerome was one of the investors and was cousin to Jennie Jerome, Winston Churchill's Mum!
Lynette: Enjoy your few days in Bude.
Brenda: Not sure how much time we'll spend shopping given that we're both traveling very light. I'm sure my sister will want to see some museums and historic sites. I can see us just sitting with a cup of coffee (tea in her case) in Central Park, chatting and people watching.
Lindybird: Will definitely take the camera.
Limpy: Your safari outing sounds wonderful; what a nice gig. I'm sure your enthusiasm is contagious for folks lucky enough to be along for the ride.
dibnlib: I bet Benson was thrilled to find himself back home with his family. When we picked up Lightning from the vets she seemed so happy to be back in familiar surroundings and went rushing off investigating her favorite places.
OG: Assume any cough suppressants aren't working. :-(
Margo: A special hallo to you!
Watching a documentary on "spy penguins," - robot penguins with built-in cams. Fascinating!
Have a good Thursday everyone.
Good Morning ALL. A dry cool morning but promises to be a day of some sunshine.
OG, I hope you are all feeling a little better this morning and your cough didn't keep you awake, but I guess EE and J could be coughing, also.
Annette, We saw a documentary about " spy penguins," which we really enjoyed. Possibly the same one. Sounds as if you would love to have your Gd's birthday camera :-))
Busy washing the sheets etc and the HW. as I want to relax tomorrow. I will be taking part in a fun bowls evening tomorrow night. Starts at 6pm. The greens are lit by candle light only. They resemble runways at an airport. We then have food in the clubhouse. It really was so much fun last year especially when it becomes very dark. OH will be a spectator only as Drs still won't allow him to play.
Wow, quiet on here today.
Brenda: Those spy penguins were a hoot - and so clever, laying spy eggs. :-) No way do I want Gd's camera. My point-and-shoot works fine and life is too short to spend any of it reading more pesky Owners Manuals!! Bowls by candlelight? Not exactly romantic, but sounds like good fun, especially with eats to follow.
We went down to my Mums on Mon and always find a visit a bit of an ordeal. Guess I find it hard to accept tha Mum has Alzheimers.
On Tues we went into Edn esp to see an exhibition at Holyrood Palace. We did a bit of retail therapy, booked in at a travel lodge just off the Royal Mile, had a quick change then went to a Thai restaurant we had been recommended by a work colleague. The food was delish and the setting amazing. It is a rooftop restaurant with superb views of the castle and over the other side you can see over to Fife. I had forgotten about the trams and so to see them was a surprise. Our evening was spent at The "Playhouse" where we managed to get very good seats to see "Calamity Jane". The first 20 mins of the show we were a bit dubious as the accent took some getting used to, then it just got better. Jodi Prenger (of Oliver fame) was the lead and her rendition of "secret love" was spot on. Home yesterday stopping off at Bruar again and spending yet more money. I treated myself to a "Herden" elephant, just a small one as that was all I could afford. Off out soon so off to smarten up.
Popping in to let you know that Margo has caught her OH's cold. In her own words : "Have to confess, not feeling very good at the moment. My throat feels as though I have been eating razor blades. "
Her Dr faxed a prescription through to the chemist for antibiotics, just after 8am. She has excellent service from her GP.

Good evening everyone, its been a little while, I have been caught up with work and the usual day to day things.
Not sure if I mentioned previously we have a feral cat that has taken sanctuary in our garden over the last month, a female, I would say about a year old, looking very skinny.
After 2 weeks I decided to feed her, also provided her with a shelter from the elements, which she prefers not to use, she lays on one of the garden chairs, which I have since made more comfortable for her with bedding etc.
Monday I tried to get her in the cat basket to get her to the vets to see if she is chipped, a long shot I know, I was at a stage where she would allow me to pick up her for a few seconds, but no way was she going in the basket! one very frightened cat, plus my arms scratched to pieces, drawing blood.
So I resorted to contacting the Cats Protection for advice, they are in the process of sending out a few paper collars with their details and contact number for her to wear, if no response from possible owners after 7 days they will come and claim her, they have to follow a procedure.
I was told they are inundated at the moment with abandoned cats, folk move on also go into rented properties and leave them behind, it makes me so mad! if I hadn't got 2 of my own, I would quickly take her, but my boys are not amused.
That's my little moan of the day about irresponsible pet owners, sorry.
Good news I am off to see mum on Saturday due to a family birthday, mum is now mobilising unaided indoors, walking with elbow crutches outdoors with supervision, thankfully she is also feeling less frustrated, her mood is started to lift, she can now see some progress, although never enough.
I am now going to play catch up and read back over the past 2 weeks.
TINA cannot understand people dumping their pets. I do hope there is success in finding an owner for her one way or another. Glad to hear that your Mum is making progress.
We were out and about today. We had to go to Elgin, so of course popped into Brodie Countryfare for coffee and a walk on the way. We returned home via Lossie where we walked Benson and Findhorn where we walked Benson. We took him into The Kimberley in Findhorn. It s a dog friendly pub and he was given attention by staff and customers alike. It was his first time in a pub though he has been in beer gardens. He was very well behaved. So that is 2 new experiences for him as of course it was his first time in kennels. He really is a delight. This evening we dined out at Rocpool and it was as good as ever. May go there for my birthday meal in a fortnight and may even eat off the "a la carte". OH and Benson are already in bed and reading so think I will make a night time drink and join them.
Annette, The camera sounds like the type my OH prefers. LOL. You are so right, there is nothing romantic about the candle lit bowls or the meal afterwards. ( a fish and chip supper, with wine or soft drinks). Plenty of laughs though. We have to take torches to walk across a field or through a cemetery , to cars or to walk home.
Tina, I do hope your stray cat can be traced back to it's home or can be found a good home. Pleased to hear that your Mum is improving. Enjoy the family birthday.
Dibnlib, It really must be so upsetting for you when you visit your Mum, otherwise it sounds as if you really enjoyed your time away.. I have never been too sure about Jodi Prenger. For me, it very much depends on what she sings. Benson really does enjoy some lovely walks with you. I have noticed when we go out with my son and his wife, we often go to a dog friendly pub, these days, because Penny can go with us. LOL
