WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2014

Checked the date twice this time round.

Here's to a pleasant new week all.

  • Well the most recent news on the last thread is that OG has come down with a rotten cold, George is looking forward to getting back to normal TV programming, and Brenda managed to get two (count'em!) pairs of jeans.  I heard a rumor that Downtown Abbey is starting tomorrow (Sunday) in the UK; we'll have to wait for January.

    Margo: Hope you're feeling better.

  • Well done Annette - you cracked it! Must be confusing being 8 hrs behind and trying to remember that after a busy day.  Many thanks for the info re bold/italic printing - it was the "rich formatting" bit I had forgotten. How's your weather these days -some of the fires have been horrendous by the sound of it.

Interesting comments last week re Scottish notes - feel some places just can't be bothered with them and don't realise they are worth the same as the English ones. Would love to see their reaction to our £100 pound note!! Remember giving one to friends as a wedding present a few years back and they thoroughly enjoyed explaining to John Lewis' in London that it was genuine and was legal tender!

Are we going to get Part 2 + photos of Clare's visit to Germany this week? - watch this space!

  • LizLFW: Indeed, managed to avoid the time warp this week. Here, a $100 bill is scrutinized pretty carefully (at least, that's what they tell me). :-)

  • Good morning, all.  Yes, I'm going through the photos for Germany Part 2 - there are just so many of them........!

I didn't know Scotland had a £100 note - you learn something new every day!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Good Morning, All and thanks to Annette for starting us off again. Was pleased to see that Brenda got the desired jeans, and two pairs, too! They do last longer than ordinary trousers so worth spending a little more for a good fit. Us ladies do seem to come in an amazing variety of sizes!! Looking forward to seeing more photos, Clare.
  • Yes, Downtown starts again on UK TV this evening. Was annoyed just now as a woman on the BBC News entertainment Chat told us half of the story!!! Grrr. I am not too good, as after a pleasant day yesterday I was violently ill in the middle of the night last night with what seems to be food poisoning. After one session in the bathroom my OH was worried that I did not emerge & came to find me spark out on the floor - I had fainted. Later I repeated that so he was really worried. In the end, the two of us had to try to clean up the mess and get me in the shower at 3.30am!! Now I've just been sick again but think I must be really empty now so hoping that's the end of it & I can just rest. Sorry for the gory details!!
  • Blimey, Lindy - that must have been quite frightening for you both.  Do take it easy today.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Oh, LINDA, poor you, and poor OH too - must have really scared him.. Do take care today.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Good Morning ALL. Cooler this morning, with sunshine and a breeze. The air feels so much fresher, with the humidity now dropping. I slept so well last night that OH had to wake me. I lifted my glass of water, to have a sip, and found the strangest bug doing the breast stroke on the surface !!

Thanks Annette, for starting the week. Hope you have cooler temperatures today.

OG, Hope you are not feeling any worse this morning and that you recover soon.

Linda, So sorry you have been so sick during the night. I did notice that the Aston Villa football team were all going down with a vomiting illness. They had to keep changing the team as the players fell ill. One player was even substituted at half time. Hope you haven't got the norovirus bug. Do take care of yourself.

  • Liz, The shops down here ( in England)  are very 'careful' and suspicious, if you use an English £50 note. Some of the smaller shops would prefer not to accept them as they don't have the little machines for testing if they are genuine. Too many counterfeits in circulation.
