WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2014

Checked the date twice this time round.

Here's to a pleasant new week all.

  • Just heard that our DiL has come first in the Female Triathlon at Eton Dorney. She looks so fresh in the photograph when receiving her plaque.

I am playing bowls this afternoon in a ladies club competition for a trophy. DiL tells me I can't come home unless I win. As I haven't a hope of winning, has anybody got a bed for the night. LOL

  • My congratulations to your DiL!  Do I remember correctly that she would have had to run, swim and cycle?

As for your bowling competition I can only recommend that you just go and enjoy yourself.  You'll do better that way even if you don't win.  You never know who might have a bad result on the day!  Just ask Liverpool FC.  We were coming back from Minsmere yesterday when Limpy turned the radio on so he could listen to the match commentary of West Ham v Liverpool........I braced myself for a journey filled with shouts of 'Sack the Manager!' and instead found myself gobsmacked as Liverpool were two-nil down after seven minutes!!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Lindybird - so sorry to hear that you were so ill in the night, what a nasty experience for you, do hope you will rest and recover today.

    Brenda, congratulations to your DiL.

I am back working on my outdoor window frames today, have just put the first coat of stain on the Sitting room window , only two more windows to go now!

  • OG AND LINDY   Do hope you are both feeling fine now.

BRENDA    very well done to your DiL. She must be extremely fit.

Voting has taken place for our new minister, and there was just one vote against. He did his probation with us and OH and I thought he was excellent, so yipee.

  • Def. flu; think we shall have to cancel our trip to Ayr next weekend - can't imagine having the strength to prepare and go.  But the trip to Daughter last week was an extra, and we so enjoyed it, anything else might be an anti-climax anyway!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Morning everyone.

Lindybird: You fainted twice? That would worry me too; do drinks lots of water and rest.

Brenda: More congrats for your DiL from here too; we have a spare bed in case you lose your match.  :-)

Rita: Hope the paint isn't the kind I used that dried before you could blink and was terrible to work with.

OG: Oh dear, you didn't see Lindybird on your travels did you?  When you're better, let us know how the visit with your daughter went.

Off to meet my daughter and get some of her potted plants organized. Suspect there'll be a breakfast in there somewhere....

  • Hope that Brenda had a pleasant t time bowling, even if she didn't win! Its been a beautiful day here but I have been dozing in chairs & beds, trying to recover. My OH has been up a ladder, pruning the large old apple tree. He won't pay anyone else to do it so I sat with the phone by my side, ready to dial 999 if he fell!! He has done the job now thank goodness. I've had nothing but water all day & he's just going to get himself something on toast. Hopefully we'll both feel a lot better tomorrow. I was supposed to go to the opticians tomorrow but am going to ring them and put it off, then I can spend the day pottering.
  • OG - I'm sorry that you think its the 'flu. Do hope its not too bad.
  • Happy, gentle pottering, LINDA!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Not unexpectedly, I didn't win LOL. The ladies club captain won. I did enjoy myself though, but I am tired. My back was aching from too much gardening and it aches even more now :-))

Sorry, Linda, but I did laugh at the thought of you, lying on the garden lounger, prepared to dial 999, if needed. Glad your OH finished, with no problems.
You are going to feel so weak after all that vomiting and I don't like to read that you fainted twice, either. Are you thinking of seeing the Dr. ?

OG, Sorry, you are suffering from the flu. You must feel absolutely yuk, especially as you think you will have to cancel your holiday to Ayr. I hope EE and J don't catch it.
I notice that our surgery starts the winter flu jabs next week.

Annette, Thanks for the offer of the bed. OH allowed me back home. He didn't have much choice, as he came to watch the competition.
