Brenda: Just this last week I notice that some of the trees up the road from us are changing color.  What's really ridiculous is that we have a camellia bloom on one of the bushes - two months earlier than usual!   No rain in the forecast...  :-(   Did you bring any leftovers home?

Heather: Good luck with the phone purchase. We've always bought basic "stupid" phones as opposed to the latest smart ones - my daughter dropped her stupid phone in the dog's water bowl last week; and the techie folks said the simpler phones survive that kind of mishap much better than the ones with all the bells and whistles -hers dried out in a couple of days.

Went to gym this morning; then it was lunch with my book and the hammock. Got rather warm this afternoon so took book off to the beach and sat and read in the shade of a tree for an hour - very refreshing!

Annette - hate to mention it, but today is the 14th!! Also how do you get bold type - used to be able to do it, but seem to have forgotten how to do it now - Today's senior moment!!

Interesting fact about the mobile phones - must remember that for next time I need to replace mine - bells and whistles are unnecessary!! I'm sure I would manage it much better.

Good morning, all!  Annette, many thanks for starting the new thread - but I'm afraid Liz is correct in saying today is the 14th.  I suspect it doesn't help that when you start the thread your computer is telling you it's still the 13th.  The joys of time differences!!

Great to see you, Liz - are you well?  I don't actually carry a mobile phone - one of the reasons being they have grown so ludicrously complicated to use.  I can't even answer Limpy's - you have to stroke it in a particular way to pick up a call!!

I've just seen a great Marilyn Monroe quote:

'Every woman needs a man who will ruin her lipstick and not her mascara.....'

I can certainly agree with this one!

Good Morning & Happy New Week, All! Thanks to Annette for starting us off again. I never seem to know what day I'm on these days, anyway..... Love the quote, Clare, not heard that one before. We are a mixed household when it comes to m. phones: my OH hates techy things so has a very basic one which was ridiculously cheap from Tescos. I have a glam one which does all sorts, but as I run it on Pay as You Go, I never use the internet bit of it - its also ages old now and probably due to be replaced, but we need to look at our computer problems first. It took me a while to sort out our new landline phone recently. We had to learn all the menus on it just to get it to remember our most used numbers, and I haven't put my dulcet tones on the answer phone yet.

Nice to hear from Liz again: hope all is well with you. Annette - your weather sounds similar - we haven't had rain for ages, and yes, some of the trees are changing colour I notice. Some plants are now flowering again after doing their thing earlier, much too soon.

We had a good time yesterday, visiting the family. Young Tomasz was pleased to see his Grandfather, and immediately requested to sit in our car!! This is of course, so that he can sit in the drivers seat and play with all the controls. His mother is blooming and is looking forward to the new arrival. We were able to tell them all about our Eldest, and Amber. I took my cakes, and d.in.law had made scones, so we all ate too much! They have a great grape vine, which is heaving heavily with fruit this year but as they don't have time to try & make wine with it, they are going to have a go at grape jelly.

Re mobile phones, I do enjoy having my iPhone, although before I got it, I did argue that I wouldn't use most of the additional features. Now I use it for my e-mails and the internet etc. It was bought for me two years ago, because my OH and the children, all had them and therefore forced me to change. I am now due for an update on my contract, so have been looking at the new iPhone, which can now be ordered.LOL

Linda, Were the grapes ready for picking and if so, did you manage to take some home with you ?  Watching Tomasz playing in your car, must bring back memories of your own sons at that age. So glad to hear that your DiL is blooming. I hope her baby will sleep well for her, as life could get hectic for her, with Tomasz now being so active.

Clare, I hadn't heard that MM quote. She didn't have much luck with her choice of men, though. 

Labour has an 8 point lead over the Nasty Party and that is before our leafletting campaign against them in their 40 closest marginals. All we need now is a 'yes' vote on thursday and Lord Snooty Ca moron will be gone for good.

It's a very odd thought that by the time the next Weekly Chat thread is started Scotland could officially be on its way to being a separate, foreign country.  At least it will make absolutely no difference to things as far as EJ's perspective is concerned.
