This is a new thread to follow the travels of these three young ospreys from the Loch Garten nest.
Millicent
This female juvenile is the eldest of the 2014 brood, hatched on 17th May and fledged on 12th July. Millicent’s ring is Blue/White AN0
Seasca
Also female, the second of the 2014 brood, hatched 19th May and fledged on 15th July. Seasca’s ring is Blue/White AN9.
LG blog on the ringing and tagging of Millicent & Seasca. Their younger sister Druie is not tagged, but ringed Blue/White AN8.
Breagha
A male from the 2013 brood, hatched 28th May and fledged on 19th July. Breagha’s ring is Blue/white CF4.
LG blog on the ringing and tagging Breagha and elder sibling Oighrig.
The migrations of Breagha and Oighrig were previously followed in this thread. Contact was lost with Oighrig in January 2014, but Breagha has survived and is living in the tidal creeks of the Casamance river in southern Senegal.
Very sad, but I did suspect something like this because the time since the last update was longer than normal. It must be even more devastating for the staff and volunteers at LG so I hope they can still look forward to the new season. And fingers crossed that the LG pair return safe and sound.
Kind regards, Ann
Totally gutted by the news and it makes all the birds that return even more precious
The latest from Breagha :
Sticking to his usual creek this week, but there is enough movement here to be reassuring; the two points on the 28th are about 350 metres apart.
Thanks, Sue. Always great to hear good news, especially after the loss of Millicent. I was starting to worry about him, too, so I am breathing a big sigh of relief.
Yes, good news SC, thanks! The even more worrying stuff to come GB when we hear that he has started migrating back here ... do hope we all get to see him!

Wendy, Yes, I know--more to worry about coming up! Always a worry when they depart from a settled pattern and then migration is so dangerous. By the way, Re: dropped threads--I tried the suggestion to check settings and nearly everything was already ticked, but still some threads do not come up on my notifications. Like this one--I had to go searching for it just now! And the Dyfi thread was missing as well from today's notifications. Very odd.
My notifications working well in reporting all threads GB but am back to my biggest irritation with it ... when I have read all threads notified & suddenly another one pops up & when clicked on reveals that silly message, get's my goat!!!! Grrrr
Why bother to draw my attention to the fact that I have no notifications ... am not blind!!
Wendy, I know what you mean. Perhaps it is just someone's idea of being cute, friendly and cheerful! I keep telling myself 'No one is perfect!'
Breagha has been updated to 4 March 2015
Still looking good.
