BIRDIE NUM NUM has given us a link to the BBC Scotland news item about the 'birth' of our first osplet. (If it doesn't start playing at the salient point, skip to 4m27s.)
Apart from the intruders still hanging around, yesterday was a great day for all the family. I think we all agree that the "osplet who should be the 100th to fledge" is a very strong and healthy chick.
IMAGICAT
Come on, Odin, bring that fish back so we can watch two bobbleheads feed.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Be patient everybody.
Now after todays hatching that means the third egg could hatch late tomorrow

Granny Smith certainly picked the right week to visit!
Hello! What great news!
Had to work late tonight and was hoping I'd still get home in time for a hatching this evening but I see it's already bust out of the shell!
Now watching intently and willing EJ to move!

Not necessarily Limpy. Based on typical incubation of 37 days for Egg 1 and 35 for Egg 2, we were always expecting Egg 2 to hatch some time today or early hours of tomorrow. But Egg 3 has only been incubating for 32 days at the moment, so I don't think we should expect anything before Thursday.
