BIRDIE NUM NUM has given us a link to the BBC Scotland news item about the 'birth' of our first osplet. (If it doesn't start playing at the salient point, skip to 4m27s.)
Apart from the intruders still hanging around, yesterday was a great day for all the family. I think we all agree that the "osplet who should be the 100th to fledge" is a very strong and healthy chick.
IMAGICAT
Sure looks like two stripes to me :-)) Just brilliant.
Let's hope the third egg hatches promptly as well. I am so hoping this will be the first year I watch three fledglings here.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
A slightly larger version of the same pic.
I'm finding this site very slow today, and posts of mine have not appeared. Here's trying again.

Hello, Odin:
He has now flown.
Odin arrived on nest 20:40 with fish. EJ remains sitting tight
Whilst posting (this site is so slow grrrr), Odin has flown off with the fish. Suspect to remove head so we may see #2 being fed soon :-))
I wish EJ would get up - I want a peek :-))
You're not the only one, Karen!
Shout louder Karen. lololol
As much as I like and admire this bird I must also say she's a wicked tease:
Fish - lol. Definately teasing us Clare, the way she just lifted a little. We could see the empty shell move and then she snuggled down again LOL
