Since the osprey threads tend to be here...these are the ospreys nesting at one of our local lochs (nice view of the nest from the hide too!).

This is the last post from the other threads.
Hi Allison
Does this help with posting your pics

Allison: great shots!
MaryGK: thank you for bringing them in this thread.
As promised, I’m posting further pictures from my visit at Balgavies Loch two weeks ago.
I mentioned in my first post that the second chick fledged on the 20th of July. The breeze helped a lot in leaving the nest, but made landing a bit more tricky: if I’m not mistaken, only the third attempt was successful. While the chick was circling, I was fully absorbed in keeping it framed and did not notice that mum White UF left her perch on the dead tree to give assistance. Here they are as I discovered them while reviewing pictures.
The first chick was an excellent performer. I already posted some pictures and don’t want to spam, but like to add this where it seems to look straight in my camera while taking a turn.
Green BF was a great food provider with regular deliveries and it’s fair to mention him in the family book.
Most of the times he was precise in his approaches, in one occasion he was probably a bit too high and managed to lose altitude this way, love his ruffled feathers in the wind.
RSPB Loch of Kinnordy was mentioned in this thread. It only takes 30 minutes to drive there and ospreys were in sight 70% of my time. Especially in front of the East hide, the loch is pretty wide and ospreys seem to prefer fishing and perching at the opposite side. Possibly not the best place for closeup photos, but I believe it great if you bring a telescope with you – for some reason, while you are happy to accept distortion and fuzziness when looking through a scope, you are not willing to do the same with still pictures, I understood when I was a “stargazer” in my youth. Whatever instrument you are using, you can see fishing techniques not common in small lochans and fisheries, like this.
An osprey flying over the hide at close distance is not uncommon though. One even started the dive, but aborted before hitting the water – many splashes seen 300mt away, instead.
What wonderful pictures ROBERTO
Amazing photos Roberto!
STUNNING photographs Roberto, and love the narrative along with them. The photo from the other side of the Loch @ Kinnordy is amazing as I know how far that is away.

Info from the visitor book at Balgavies Loch.
It is such a pity that Blue YD's sat tag stopped working, I do hope that he will be sighted somewhere before he heads off on migration again.
POST REMOVED - see below
I didn't realise that Blue YD was from the Balgavies nest
I removed my post because it might have hindered the message MaryGK wanted to convey.
I was personally aware that Blue YD came from Balgavies. I paid attention at blue leg rings seen in the area, regardless of whether a tracker was visible or not (it might have simply fallen). None could be reasonably recognized as "YD".
