Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey Topics), 23 March 2014

HAPPY NEW WEEK!

Last week's Chat thread is here: http://www.rspb.org.uk/community/placestovisit/lochgartenospreys/f/915/p/110688/844719.aspx#844719

Sorry, the site isn't letting me do posh links tonight. The code for this week's thread is WC230314.

This will likely be an exciting week! I fully expect EJ to have returned by the end of the week. Good ol' Odin, too, maybe...but I doubt it. :-))) And I think I read that Blue XD is on his way, so pour yourselves a strong coffee...

Oh, and the Dyfi cam is up and running, although I think they are working out the last of the bugs for some browsers/formats. I'm receiving it just fine using Windows 7, Internet Explorer (desktop). I haven't loaded Chrome yet on this computer. I really need to do that. http://dyfiospreyproject.com/stream

I hope everyone has a wonderful spring week!!!

  • Hello!  We are back, after a most enjoyable time away, during which we have rested, relaxed and recharged our internal batteries. Came back last night and found our Eldest installed at home, making crumbs etc. in the kitchen.

Many, many thanks to BRENDA for her sterling work in sending me regular texts on the Osprey news, and keeping me up to date with some of your goings-on.   Brenda, you're a **Star**!

  • I had to sign in again on my Tablet to start writing on here, and then it just would not post my reply, so here I am back on the desktop (& signed in again, {sigh}  )

I see from the previous page that we have heard once again from Wattle:  Hi, Wattle, good to 'see' you!

Sunshine here and a bit breezy, but that is nothing to the high winds we experienced in the Canaries, where they had not seen such winds for many years, even though its called "The Windy Isle!"   It was sometimes hard to walk down a street when it was funnelled between buildings, and as for keeping a hat on your head, well!!  We did find places to sit in, out of the wind, however, and have returned with suntans.  We also had many enjoyable conversations and a couple of nice meals out with friends we have made out there and see each year on our return.  Now I will have to find time to edit all my many photos and enjoy the memories.  Must go as lots to do , its my OH's 70th birthday today and we are celebrating with a piece of steak with our Eldest tonight, and with a roast lamb dinner tomorrow lunchtime with other relatives.

  • "It's so nice to see the daffodils, dancing yellow, and gay...
But how come all my clothes don't fit, since I've been away?..........."

  • Good afternoon all.  Hope Annette and Heather will have an easier day. Good that Amy is now home again.

Lindybird welcome back so pleased you have both come back feeling so well. A very Happy Birthday to your OH  and do,enjoy your family get together. On the ball with your poetry as usual.

My OH is up in London having met with his Mum who he is taking out for a meal. My sister is is on her way to take me out for a while, will probably go down on the seafront and enjoy the she sun for a while.

    Take care all.

  • Hello all.  This is my first attempt to get into this thread in 2014 - hope it works!  Greetings to all.

  • patriciat lovely to see you, how are you.

  • Welcome back, LINDA, pleased you had a good time of rest and relaxation.

Well done, PATRICIA; pleased you made it; we had all been hoping to hear from you!

HEATHER - glad Amy is home, with guidance for what to do if it happens again (but I hope it won't!)

MARGO - have a lovely afternoon in the sun with your Sister.

We went to a coffee morning today, then stopped for OH to eat at the local garden centre on the way home, using his birthday dessert voucher from their "gardening club".  I didn't need food, after a scone at the coffee morning.  We also bought more lawn food.  Now catching up on unfinished jobs from during the week!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Morning all:

    patriciat: Great to see you!!

Diane: Earthquake felt mostly in the LA/OC areas. We've seen an uptick (funny word) in California recently after several quiet years...  Must check my survival kit (seriously).

Still tired this morning; friend spent the night at the hospital after they moved her bro and hasn't appeared yet. Suspect she'll be back for shower, laundry and extended nap any time.

    Take care all

  • PATRICIAT    how nice to see you, welcome back.

LINDY   welcome home to you too. Hope you had a wonderful time and continue to have a wonderful time with the family. Found a couple of funnies that friends posted on facebook.

  • PATRICIA good to see you.

Have spent 5 hours pressure washing our 2 patios, various paths and the drive today.  A very long job but always very rewarding to get rid of the winter muck and moss and to be able to get to the feeders without feeling like I'm on a skating rink! Now in desperate need of a shower.  Poor Mia's had to make do with a short walk today though did spend a good while trying to get me to play football when I was in the middle it all.  I shall ache tomorrow.  It's clearly not a hard job but standing in a position, head bent down toward the ground for all that time always comes back to haunt me next day.

OH is away on an agility course.  Learning about course design today and tomorrow doing a judges course in the hope he'll pass and be able to judge at agility shows. Mia's not too impressed at his absence...

Weather started out dull but cleared quite a lot and is now bright but hazy.  At least without the moss and muck the paths will dry out quicker after rain rather than holding the water and never seeming to dry properly.
