Will EJ return this week? What if another female tries to claim the nest? Will super-Odin return to fish another year? Or will EJ take another mate (she'd better not!!) Will YOU be the lucky blogger to catch the first glimpse of an osprey at LG? Tune in to the Loch Garten LIVE webcam for the first installment of Loch Garten Ospreys - 2010!!
Seriously, lots of interesting chat on the last page or two of the previous week's chatter. Catch up now because you won't have time once the ospreys are back in town! :-)
Cirrus: Can almost hear them! What a noise. Thanks for great pic.
Margobird: How exciting about your bluetits. We have put up another nesting box but are not too hopeful as they don't seem to like them too near the house. Unfortunately, also, I was given a very 'posh' looking nestbox for Christmas but it says on the bottom "for decorative use only" and Husband says it won't stand being out in the weather, so it will have to sit on the windowsill inside (a bit pointless, I thought, but then it was a present).
Annette: Liked the pics of the big rigs, all painted up- we don't have anything like that here, at least its very rare anyway.
Shopping done & hair cut now (its short) so will be able to keep popping in this weekend to see how EJ's housework is progressing. Wonder which male will turn up first?
BY THE WAY, FOR THOSE NOT IN UK: OUR CLOCKS GO FORWARD ONE HOUR TONIGHT.
(in case no one has mentioned it)
It's called British Summer Time - lets just hope that this year, it is just that, summertime with the accompanying Bright Thing in the Sky, which we saw precious little of last year.
Thanks for the reminder, Lindybird. I for one, forgot!!!
Maureen, Cirrus,Tish OG and All - have any of you heard from Karen,
or, if you're reading this and were Karen last year and have changed your name and Avatar let me know. Hope this finds you well.
All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy. Spike Milligan
No, Soosin. Food for thought. Not heard from Karen in a while. Tish?
I am going down to Westminster to see Big Ben chime and 9.45pm and then the clock stops and the lights go out. They will remain out until 2am BST.

Djoans Sorry about your back injury. I've had a problemwith what I thought was sciatica (it isn't) so know how you must feel. Get well soon - we all need to be ffir for osprey watching.
Tweed and I didn't have a good day at our competition - no rosettes! Indy had her first go at working in a competition situation - didn't disgrace herself, so I'm very pleased.
Looking forward to seeing EJ tomorrow - hope the gorgeous Odin is not far behind - they were just such a lovely story last year.
Hi everyone.Spent the day mostly checking webcams. Not sure how I'll manage to drag myself away from the entertainment. When she's not busy fixing the nest, EJ looks lonely to me. Really hope Odin arrives soon.Annette: Thanks for posting the link for Lily. I thought I had it saved but hadn't.Diane: That's a lovely Welcome Back sign.DjoanS: So sorry to hear about your back trouble. Hope the pain vanishes quick. Glad you enjoyed Dublin.Lindybird: That's a brilliant piece of poetry.Alan: Thanks for the Huntly peregrines link.margobird: Great to hear about the blue tits using your nest box.Cirrus: Fantastic eagle pic! I can almost hear the noise they were making.A very happy Saturday everyone.Paul.

Patriciat That is what really happens. I missed the chimes at 9.45pm as I was a few minutes late. However the clock was in darkness.
The great clock is allowed to chime at 9.45pm on the Saturday night and then the lights behind the four dials are extinuished and and the clock is stopped. At midnight (GMT or BST as appropiate) the clock is restarted and allowed to drive the hands at the new time. As the new time is not official, the dial lights are kept off, and chiming and striking are kept disconnected until the new time is introduced at 2am.At approximately 1.50am on the new time for the Sunday morning, the work of reconnecting and the chiming and striking trains to the bells begins. At 1.59am the dial lights are switched on and the chimes start ringing in time for Big Ben to strike 2am to bring in the new time officially and to be back in operation again.extract from pages 127 and 128 of "The Triumphs of Big Ben" by John Darwin.
